Call centre work generally plateaus pretty badly. A flatmate of mine has been doing it for the last 20 years for various companies. It was good money to start with but their isnt always anywhere to go on from. Get some more skills and look at things you really want to do.
You dont jump out of a foxhole without having somewhere better to go.
Heh probably not, I left there a few years ago nowOriginally Posted by bugjuice

I havent decided yet.
you havent decided what?
whether or not I want to stay with the company
*nb when he said yesterday that hypothetically I might not have found the job suitable
he was quite surprised
well I dont want to pay anyone thats not interested in being motivated in this company
which is quite fair.

Remember find a job that you will be happy doing and that has a reasonable future.
Don't just take anything just because the money is good. Trust me in a couple of months you'll be back to square one. I say this from experience.
I too am in your situation at the moment. Not exactly your situation but pretty similar....... and proper broke too.
Hang in there.![]()

Could you elaborate??Originally Posted by Ramius
Depends how involved you want to be. Perhaps study computer science at uni or perhaps electronic engineering.
Otherwise take a similar course at Polytech for a more hands on role...... which may not necessarily be a lower paying or less rewarding role than the degree holders get.
Easiest way is give the people at Vodafone a ring and find out.
There is only 2 companies in new zealand that are in the niche market of insurance computer assesing. If you want I can have a chat to you about how it works.Originally Posted by Ramius
In regards to the qualifications. well. to be honest you would be surprised how expereince can overcome any lack in qual's
eg: I went over my records. and the last good qual's I got were school C
I was shocked.
basically. work in the industry in a junior position. eg xtra tech support. and work up from there. I did electronics sales for 3 years. MIS (it support) for 4 months on a fixed term contract. 2 years insurance claims and combine all those and you get the perfect computer assesor.
If you want to work for a computer repair company. I would recommend finding all the local computer repairers and go in (with a CV) and do a really good job at selling yourself.
*edit: note btw I forgot to mention. im a geek. I can do anything on a computer. If I wasnt naturally really good with computers then that wouldnt just =the perfect computer assesor.
