    Need a job

Basically. I need a new job.

due to some recent events. It seems that I will be handing in my notice tomorow. unfortuantly I have no-where to go after that.

Is anyone in the IT / Support industry or knows anyone that is hiring? Ideally I want to be in a helpdesk role that also does on-site / visit users workstations stuff. NOT a call centre like xtra.

needs to be challenging (re the notice thing. im bored out of my mind)
in auckland (preferably within 15k of central
I dont have any formal qualifications (A+ cisco mcse or anything) but I am experienced in the industry. I would be happy to answer any questions.

    Ok Cheers!+

Sorry I can't help you with employment, but I do hope you find something super quick!

A rule I try and live by Mr pyrocam is to "never leave my current job without having another one to go to". If you could hold out until you find more 'exciting' employment you would save yourself some heartache and worry dude!

    Perhaps Digipoll?

Might just do that myself if I was a nicer person on the phone...

which is an excellent point. unfortuantly I suspect its not going to work out that well.
when I went for this job I imagined it to be a whole lot better than it is. tomorow I have to tell my boss whether or not Im staying with the company (kindof an ultimatum)

the job was so boring I might as well stuff around on KB and MSN all day and make crappy animated signitures. oh. wait .....

Hey man my sister works there and I would to if I didn't think I would be fired within a week for being rude to people that are rude to me becouse I'm calling them in the middle of dinner/movie/dates/whatever they would rather be doing rather than talking to a telemarketer.

I'm also a bit of an asshole on the phone.

How old are you pyrocam and what do you have experience doing?

I worked on the paradise helpdesk for a year or so and it wasn't too much of a bad job and it opened up a bunch of doors for other IT jobs.

Hope you manage to sort something out anyway.

[edit] oh crap I see you've already been a helpdesk monkey hehe

    profile Im 22
I only did a short stint in the MIS dept of dick smith. basically sorting out the 80+ staff's techincal problems and I did the 2002 network upgrade rollout (Spiffy fun!)

basically it goes (rounded) 3 years computer sales (partly at school)
nigh half year at the MIS dept
nigh 2 years handling claims for AA insurance
and about 3 months of being an insurance assesor that specialises only in computers.

Best to hang in there mate until you find another job, you'll feel better about putting it up them, and relieve some stress. I've had a couple of shit jobs I was dying to leave, but found something else first. Good luck.

Sounds like a great decision. You don't have to totally open your heart up to him but just mention your main concerns. Don't necessarily tell him that you intend on leaving and finding another job (unless the cat's out of the bag already?) and just remain there until the new job is found - easy peasy! This sort of stuff builds character pyro.

Pyro, make things easy for your boss, people rarely enjoy being the hard ass. I'd have a frank talk with him about where you are coming from, what you think the problem is. Basically put his mind at ease that you can do the job, and you are committed to it. Even say that you like the job, and want to stay. Give him a big sloppy smile, & ask him what you can do to help him / the dept etc out. Bosses love that shit. Defuse his ultimatum, then leave when you are ready. I may be able to find something right up your alley, but likely to be a fortnight away, if it comes off.
    Cheers.
