Hampton Downs NZTT Test Day and NZPCRA Points round

On Sunday the 14th of March there will be a meeting at Hampton Downs.
The meeting is a race meeting for the NZPCRA #1 Plate and a test day for National Championship classes preparing for the NZ Superbike Championship.
This is possibly the last chance for a final shake down before the TT, so get in quick.

Post entries to Race Secretary, Auckland Motorcycle Club Inc, PO Box 11129, Ellerslie, Auckland; or, fax 09-579-3106. If faxing, please bring original entry form to race meeting.

Hi Peter, nice to meet you at Hampton the other day.
I looked further into the " No1 plate thing" after our talks. It appears that you could compete in your chosen class and win 80% of the races in it , but still not gain the No1 plate becuase it might be won by a completely different bike/rider in a completly different class ?. There is only one No1 plate between all of the various classes ?. So you could effectly "lose it" to a bike and rider that you are unable to compete against on the track in your own race......... ?

Have i got that right ?

With the AMB timing system being commonplace nowdays & results can be easily collated within mixed class racing.

I am looking at competing in this old bangers class at some point - & chasing a goal like " A low numbered plate" can always a good incentive (as prizemoney isnt the goal anymore aye!). - however the current format appears to make this pretty much a lottery.

Can you fill me on on the basics of how it all works

    Thanks
    Glen Williams

    Hi Glen,
You are correct, the NZPCRA #1 Plate covers all the classes, so even if you win your class you may not get the #1 Plate.
At some of the race meetings all of the post classics classes get put together in the one race, so it could get confusing to have 4-6 bikes with number 1. It would also be hard for the average spectator to discern who is who.
I'm sure with your talent you would be easily recognised even with out your number 1.
Jay raced an FZR1000 at Paeroa and was flying.
I look forward to catching up with you again, and thanks for the bike bits at Hampton.

    Thanks Devil.
But I have done a Hampton ride day and found it difficult to get many clean laps in as there is a big variety of riding styles out there, not to mention race lines.
This test day is for riders that intend to do the Nationals. No novices or clubman level riders will be allowed.
The post classic guy's will have there own classes.

    Cheers
