Don't ride in if you don't want to, but have some of your support people ride in. Sit through the restorative, listening to them trying to weasel their way out taking responsibility, apologising profusely, and promising never to do it again, all the while avoiding eye contact. Say your piece with the expectation that they will not be listening to a word you say. Ask open ended questions.

Have a couple of the biggest and hairiest supporters wait outside, be seen talking to them as you leave. Have a couple of others, of any size follow the miscreants on their bikes when they leave, visors down (Irridium of course) or shades on

Ride past from time to time. Use their address for your next Tag-o-rama pic.

Of course none of this should even be considered - especially if it would cause teenage embarrassment to Mr 13.

Whatever you decide to do - Good Luck!!

Make it a bit of both, then send them to Tonga for a bit of real justice!

It all gets a bit much

ok, so police, photos, large hairy smelly biker mates outside the school. ( need volunteers for that one, dont know anyone here in the Hutt )

    Im onto it.

Son has stopped shaking and started to think the bruise is kinda cool. Boys!

DON'T. Take it to the police right away. You are pissing into the wind thinking the school will do anything, and the kid will be just hoping you do nothing.

My kid is just starting karate classes, and he's starting to fill out like his massive uncles. The same thing happened to him last year. It won't happen again, unless they don't like the shape of their face.

Sorry for your son there, on top of an already harrowing day, Ratti.

I agree with everyone here, log a job with Police, at least it's there for future reference too. Particularly both with the history and now this concussion. Bit concerning.
IMO Restorative chit chat is nothing but a warm fuzzy feeling that shows the school, parents and kids are all working together doing something - and hey, the parents may be nice, but not have a handle on their kids, that would suck for them, but you have to protect your son.
These kids need a harsher scare than what the School can offer. And of course before it all goes too much further for your son. Good Luck

What he said, if it's been going on for so long a little talk, ain't gonna be much of a deterrent.

He's home now with mild concussion, vision has settled to normal and he has just had a bit to eat. Im picking he'll be ok, but it's still a head injury so Im keeping an eye on him.

Fortunatly school is onto it and Im happy they are going to do the right thing. ie stand the boys down for a short time and then do what they are calling a restorative action on the boys part.

Meetings with parents of kids and me then I get to have my say to the boys.

so, had a brief and pointed set of words with them as they were getting marched into the office, but what sorts of things should i be saying when I get my chance next week? Im too angry to say anything sensible right now, but should be calmer by then.
    Suggestions?
The fact that you are going to go and "stand up" for the poor kid is just going to get him beaten up even more.

Telll you son to harden the fuck up and give it back to them.

Or do you want a poof for a child.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Solo parenting is the hardest job and you need to be pretty tough, esp with teenage sons!

Not that i am promoting it (maybe i am with this post) but there was a couple of guys that would go around picking on kids at school thinking they where the big man.
they carried on into collage and had a go at me one day and when i was walking away they hit me on the back of the head and laughed while i was down. nothing was done so i waited untill one of them was along (a month or so later) and king hit him and while he was down i put the boot in.
They never picked on me or anyone else again.
I was suspended for 1 week but it was so worth it.

The system today will do nothing to stop any of what is going on.
It should be picked up early and changed.

Sorry Ratti but i think that there will be nothing done. at the least they should have been suspended and the fact they weren't shows what will happen next.

Tinkletoes - you might have missed the important bits - the 13old was knocked out and had concussion - this is not a case of just being called a rude name. Serious attacks like that by asshole 13yos needs to be addressed - and it needs to be done properly. Will that make the kid a poof - no, and its a fuck load better than having a kid who next time dosnt get so lucky with the head injury and ends up in a wheelchair.

    Steve
We used to call it 'green belt syndrome' kid goes to katate for a couple of years and believes that means he can fight. normally ends up bashed by kids who have never done a class in their life. very LOL.

Still - he can always take your nunchucks huh?

And whats with the advise of calling the police this time - reading your other post you would think you were against that - which DB are we talking to today/

Little shits like this understand one thing. The power of a (figurative) stick. Confront them with a bigger stick. Police. Hit squad. You choose.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
