Mr 13 needs to know how to stand-up fopr himself

The bullying will just continue till he does

I'd suggest taking up a martial art

And as for the perps in question - I'd beat the puss out them - but them I'm not very PC - failing that do get the coppers in - press charges for assualt

My intermediate had a bunch of awesome guys that made all bully's lives hell. Counter-bullying is very effective.
I was a little weenie kid but I never got beaten up.

I got bullied in 3rd form, as did heaps of girls - by 5th form Maori girls at College, called themselves "da mob" after a couple of good lunchtime punchups, including throwing a desk at one of them in class (a follower) after bashing me over the head with a rather large text book (just about dropped me to my knees), I wasn't ever bullied again for the rest of my stay, but then I was never knocked out, so.... school has always had bullies, but I think it's how it dealt with now that's different and no good.

As other people have said, your child should learn some sort of contact sport.

Boxing is very good and I did it for years growing up however I would suggest some sort of MMA that encompasses both striking and grappling.

Learning something like this is more than just being able to defend himself (which is pretty important) it will teach confidence.

The confidence that your son will gain will follow him through his whole life. I will point out that you must control the confidence as it can become arogence and then other problems will occur.

Karate and some of those types of martial arts are shit. You need to learn a system that will teach him to both punch and take a punch as some of those systems don't teach full contact.

Learning to take a punch is effective as it will teach you son to keep cool and that you can be hit and with a good guard you wont even feel it.

If your son has the confidence that he could wipe the floor with the person in his face he may just walk away as he nothing to prove. In the case provided I don't think walking away would help as I beleive that sometimes force must be meet with force.

Remember that bullying doesn't stop at school. It happens in the adult world, alot of the types that assaulted your son hang out in social scenario's looking for people to prey on. it happens more and more often in town.

Uhh, whut? Those were the first two things karate taught my kid, as well as how to deliver a kick.

Next is the balance to tech him - what he CAN fix by hitting, and what he cannot. That will be the tricky one, and worse still, it will be left completely up to you. Lots of people think they can fix anything by hitting, or by belittling, or targetting in other ways, but these are just different forms of the same violence, Tank.

    "Wow, Great advise there DB."

OK who has hacked DB's account.
we know its not you beacuse you forgot to add "in my opinion".
or do you just have post traumatic thread disorder by not remembering what you have written in the past, i.e."if someone is stupid enough to fuck themselves up that bad in a bike crash then they deserve everything they get".

You cannot fix everything by hitting etc - but it does tend to work on the mouth breathers that cannot understand commonsense and logic. You just have to pick your audience and use a lever that works for them, DB.

Tinkltoes, fuck off. Your post was full of shit and I dont need it.
My son was defending himself from one boy when the second boy dived in and started punching him in the head.
I am taking in comments from the rest of you and slowly putting it in place.
Am seriously considering the validity of some arguments.
The boys have already been stood down under some section of the some act... There is a process that has to be followed and that is all the school can do.

He's gone to school. Went to sleep early last night, but was coherent in speech and so on.
I doubt there will be lasting damage to anything but his pride.

Fortunatly he has a very strong sense of self and wont bow down to peer pressure. I am intending to show him this thread when he gets home after school and let him have a think on the variety of responses that have been posted. We'll have a talk about what he wants to do next.

Thanks for checking in Smiffy. Whoever says bikers are rotters don't kno the same folk I do. ( cept for 1or 2 exceptions )

I'd have to agree that a lot of karate is more of a sport and confidence exercise then that of any real value in a fight.
In a fight they're not going to count to three and wave a flag before the fight starts and you're not going to be facing someone equal to you.

Something like ju jitsu/thai kick boxing is better imo. Kung fu can be good. As with anything you need a reputable place of practice.

Other then that. Go to the cops while it's still fresh.
Also fighting dirty is often over looked. You don't like the other people otherwise you wouldn't be fighting, there's no honor in fighting.
    Leave them infertile.

Not first in class in comprehension? Never mind, maybe simple numbers is more your thing...2 on 1 doesn't hand the win to 1.
Granted, our victim might find the opportunity to get 1 of the bully's alone - sounds like he could cope with that.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
