Lots of people think they can fix anything by hitting, or by belittling, or targetting in other ways, but these are just different forms of the same violence, Tank.

He may have been showen how to punch but doesn't meen he can do it correctly. Kakushin is one of the Karate systems that uses full contact and is known for it's kicking ability but not so much the upperbody. Alot of professional fighters have babbled in boxing to impove their hands.

First example off the top of my head is Ray SEFO.

No system is perfect how ever modern incarnations are incorporating the best of everything into one ass kicking Bruce LEE smoking Jet LEE beating Chuck NORRIS pounding system.

In no way justifying the actions of said bullies but your master 13 aint exactly a lil fella. I suspect a "shove" from him woulda sent ME into orbit.

Ray hasnt 'dabbled' in boxing - he boxes professionally and has always had boxing trainers. Even back in the day his coach was Lolo (who trained Shane Cameron for all that was worth) - but he always concentrated on good hands.

Once sparred with him - was suitable outclassed - looks like he hits hard, but actually hits harder than it looks.

I dont want to read any more bull about getting my son to beat the other boys. Go make your own thread to discuss the best way to do that.

I encourage self defence, but a 'name' for being tough is bullshit.

My son is already 6foot tall at 13, he has the typical pattern of being a gentle giant that small pricks who want to 'prove' themselves against pick on. he doesnt want to fight - why should he have to?

You're right Frosty, the thought of a shove from him should be enough to put off the average 13 yo..but these two boys are out to prove themselves tough. My son is only one that they pick on in an attempt to do so. They are also not small lads. About my height but already more heavily muscled than my son. One on one it would have been a fair fight and I may not be as pissed off as I am..its the pack fight onto one that has got my whiskers prickled and fangs bared

ps..was bloody great to see you yesterday dude!

No one is saying that your son has to beat up other boys. We are saying that he needs the tools to look after himself.

Why should he have to? Because unfortunately it is the big bad world and some people like to inflict misery.

This is one of the best ways to pick a good dojo - avoid any that say they "incorporate the best of everything" like the plague. It takes most of a lifetime to even get to see the best of any true martial art, let alone become proficient in it.

Anyone who claims to be proficient in the "best" of any art is either lying or stupid, and you don't want them as a teacher.

    Sorry,

My 2c for what it is worth. Fighting is the totally worse thing he (or anyone) can do.

Even if they win - they can lose, often a lot more than just a hiding. Someone can hit their head, whatever.

Really - the 'baddies' need to be made accountable for their actions. Can your son do it - no. Can the teachers - more so, but really no.

Your son was hurt - and it could have been a lot, lot worse. And a consussion is not far away from a potentially serious injury.

Give it to the people who are best equiped to handle it - the police. In the meantime it also teaches your son about fixing problems the right way.

Sorry this got off track - and I really hope that your son gets it worked out. As I said in my rep comment - things lile this can impact young 'uns for the rest of their life - so get it sorted as quickly as you can.

    good luck !

With out getting off topic again. I did not type 'anyone' as I at no point referred to an individual being the master.

Have a look at MMA fighters, they are now mostly very well rounded fighters in the ring. You could mabee say jack of all trades master of none.

It is not uncommon for people to learn a couple of different styles at once. I always wanted to learn jujitsu who knows I still might however I may brake my hip in the process.

Sorry to hear about your son, Ratti.
I work in a high school, and whilst bullying still happens, there is no way this would happen at my school!

When you meet with the culprits, they will apologise (it is expected). Be sure to not accept their apology straight away
Make them suffer a little. Classic line...don't waste your time on 'sorry' just don't do it again!

I also think you should go to the Police, extra insurance, if you like.
Look after your lad....concussion/head injury can be nasty.

If my nose was running money, I'd blow it all on you...

Sorry to hear about your boy - there are some bloody awful little shits out there!

I would echo what Mr O has said. My girlfriends 14 year old got bashed a couple of months back by some little fucktards. He was carted off in an ambulance unconscious and the hospital was quite freaked about the size of the swelling on his head where the little shits had kicked him repeatedly while he was down. This took place out of school grounds and a member of the public intergvened and called the ambulance...but still the cops were not involved!!!! UNTIL my girlfriend got onto them. At first they were all blaise about it and took the assailants words for it that it was 'just a minor school boys scuffle and disagreement' She kicked up a stink and got the hospital records down to the cop shop and gave them a really hard time about it. FFS it's assault already! The little shits shouldn't just get a slap on the hand with a wet bus ticket and wee telling off from you and the school - it's a violent offence for god sake!

can ya tell this heats me up?!

Anyway the good news is that they got these little shits actions 'officially recorded' (so next time they do something dodgy they atleast don't come off as first time offenders....cos none of them were before they took to my friends son) and they have had to fork out for a replacement cellphone (which was damaged and broken in the attack) and they have been removed from the one class he had to be in with them and they had to pay him a little bit of money to 'atone' MY ARSE poor buggers personality has changed a fair bit and the head injury has him up and down like a yo yo too.

    Good luck!

Why do I keep hearing a song in my head today?

    All together now...

Promise me son not to do the things Ive done
walk away from trouble if you can.
    It wont mean you're weak
if you turn the other cheek.
I hope you're old enough to understand,
Son you don't have to fight to be a man.

and we all know how the song finishes....
