Just recently went through this. Accident happened in November, claim made on day, got money from insurance last month. After talking to heaps of different people the person the finally sorted it out was the original person who took the claim. Funny that!
My leathers were about 3 months old and I had worn them maybe 4 times. Gloves were the same and could have sold everything for new. Helmet was older but got quote from the bike shop. The took off 10% for all the gear (bike shop told them it was in new condition) and helmet was just the replacement value. It didn't matter how old the helmet was - it's full replacement value. That was good to know.
The chick that sorted it was pretty good. They didn't have any figures for depreciation so she just said "does 10% sound alright?", not really but you're going to anyway so sweet. She told us cycling gloves get depreciated at 50% after 3 months! So they're saying they only last 6 months! Harsh.
Good to hear you're getting it sorted Caseye. Really keep on top of them though. Hopefully you'll get it pushed through quickly.
