Anyone used POR15 for removing rust from their steel gas tank?

Hi,
I've been lucky in getting a NOS (new old stock) fuel tank for an early 70's Yamaha 2 stroke twin.
Unfortunately after the fuel tanks first filling up of fuel I notice some light surface rust appearing (I am keeping the tank full when storing to prevent condensation build up - just petrol only in the tank as the bike has a separate oil tank )

Has anyone used POR15 and with what results? ...I have been told this is better than Kreem due to some Fuel Tank Liner issues with that product .
Obviously I want to protect a hard to replace tank for the future so keen to know how others have got on if they have used POR15!

yep used it at least 10 years ago on an old steel petrol tank on a three wheeler that had pinholes in it, and it still isn't leaking, just follow the directions and you can't go wrong.

Another option is to go to your local radiator repair shop, ask them if the coat tanks there and arrange to get it done when they are doing another tank, one I use here acid etches the tank inside to clean out all the rust then coats it with an epoxy resin, due to the etch the resin bonds to the steel.

Have a read of this. I used a POR 15 kit on my bike, worked a bloody treat it did. Not too challenging to do either. Good luck with it!
