Get out while you still can !!!
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

An RS250 as your first foray into biking? 4,000km in two months..?

Respect young man! I wouldn't suggest the wee RS as a learner bike! You must have good control over your throttle-hand!
You don't get to be an old dog without learning a few tricks.
Shorai Powersports batteries are very trick!

It's actually a very forgiving bike and would say it's great for learning on. I do have a mature right wrist and haven't done anything crazy stuff like wheelies etc. Also I'm very tall, 6"4 on a cold day. So it was either that or the Hyo, and you just shouldn't even compare the two, Aprilia was a clear winner. The only scary moment I had on it was approaching the Coromandel ranges just before where it get's really twisty. A guy in a ZX10R with "west" fairings was overtaking me (i'm pretty sure he was knee sliding) around a left turning corner. A car was approaching from the opposite direction he knelt more to get inside the left lane and I thought the bike's gonna drop, but he kept it in. As he went over the centre line the back tyre just slid out and he nearly highsided it. My handlebars got very jittery after I applied the front brake to avoid hitting him. After all the commotion he raised his hand as to apologize bolted off.

Apart from that all is good!

Cool! Only other thing you may not really appreciate about the Aprilia is that apparently you need to do a top-end o/haul every 18,000km which at the rate you're clocking them up won't take you very long...

Still one of my favourite ever sports bikes though and if I had the spare dosh to indulge myself, would be in my garage.

I had a similar experience shortly after getting my old GSX600F. I was passing a couple of cars on the Riverhead road and was hard out in third just hitting redline and an R1 shot past like I was going backwards! Kinda deflating to the ego when you're just in the middle of thinking how quick your bike is... Difference was that this rider didn't muck up the corner ahead. He could ride, for sure! I didn't even bother trying to keep him in sight...

    Thanks everyone for the greetings!

The bike will get looked after better than I look after my self. I'm keeping her for good. Once I get my full I'll get a bigger bike and use her for the track. Might make a nice little glass cage and keep her in there while she's not out on the track. Fu*k I love that two stroke sound. Especially at 7k rpm once the power kicks in HARD. Will need to record it and use it as my alarm, I think that will kick in the adrenalin in the mornings.

Also got my first ticket on Sunday. At Northcote just after the bridge. 100 bucks for no L plate, it was a cop on a bike. I told him I'd been driving cars for nearly a decade and NEVER had a ticket in my life and never been in an accident. Nope he wouldn't have any of it he was even considering doing me in for speeding over 70km/h ( I was doing a reasonable 90 due to heavy-ish traffic). Told me he'll let me off speeding as it might mean I'd get a suspension for gaining so many demerits in one day or something like it. I guess I was unlucky in getting caught but lucky with the ticket... So if you see someone on an Aprilia RS250 with a bright yellow L plate around Akl you're more than welcome and laugh at me

Yo, good on you for shunning the grossly overweight hyoslag in favorite of the devilishly delightful RS..

Yeah man if you look after it, the power band will give you an experience you won't get on most four strokes.

    Good work
