    Is it illegal?

Am I breaking any laws by playing DVD's in the car for the kids and Ms Biff when I drive, or anyone drives for that matter?

We've a pullyout dashboard mounted unit and I'm about to install a flip down unit in the rear of the BiffMobile. The pullyout dashboard mounted unit can be angled, and is always angled away from the driver, so the driver can't see it anyway.

I know it'll fail a WOF - which says to me it's probably illegal.

Yeah, my understanding is the screen must be removed to comply for WOF
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

One in the front might be but the flip down one in the back shouldn't. Funny how a "normal" person can get caught up in something so silly when boy racers and such can get away with murder.

Can't be viewed by the driver while the vehicle is in motion. Ie a parking brake switch or angled (fixed) away from the drivers view. But I have seen AA drivers using their touch screen with graphical interface while driving??

(Thats what happens with compliancing anyway)

wot he said, the driver is only allowd to view text - so you can load Lord of the Rings and read that on long boring trips, but you can't see the movie....

This rule is due for an overhaul soon as GPS with maps becomes commonplace, some of these Jap Imports have Japanese street maps on the monitor.

How is just having text on it legal? Shouldn't it be considerd the same as txting while driving? Reading anything and driving is dangerous because you have to take your eyes off the road to read something. Last thing we need on the streets os for cagers to be looking down at thier stereo monitors thingies while driving they're blind enough as is.

yes in fact it is!! especially with older people, looking down at your speedo means your eyes have to readjust which takes time, and then when you look back up, especially if your old it takes a long time for your eyes to return to their previous state of focus!

Takes a total of a few seconds to check your speedo. If your looking at something that has more than a few numbers with a needle pointing to the relevent ones it takes a bit longer to do so. Huds arn't that wide spread in the states either, only the rich peaple can afford them.

Just checked the VIRM - TV sets has GONE!! I thought,oops....lost one when I was updating the manual, but just checked the online version and 7-14 has disapeared. This is inline with removing policing work from AVIs...we are not Policemen,we have no right to tell you whether you can watch TV while driving or not....I don't get paid enough to do that....or see the results of someone actualy doing it.

So what does this mean? That it is now 100% ok to have TV sets in the front of a vehicle?
