    2008 ZX6 race ECU required

I know this is a wanted add but I felt there may get better coverage of the target audience if I placed it in here.

I'm after a Kawasaki race ECU for a 2008 ZX6, if you know of someone with one they want to off load then please get in touch with me. I'm hoping there may be a couple of them floating around now that a new model is in the mix some people may be putting their race bikes back to road condition.

If you know of them or have had experience please let me know.

    Cheers
    Brad

hi Lee bradford( team Airforce Racing ) will be selling his 08 ZX6r in the next month or so.. it has Kawaka Race ECU mapped by museum hotel ( when J was riding it ) and a full Akra Exhuast system with carbon firbe end can.

let me know he may want to sell the sys and chip... that all he has done to the bike and its TRUCKING FAST!!

Would it include all the required interface cables or would it be just the ECU?

    Hi,

Not sure if I'll be selling the ecu/system seperate from the bike yet. Going to try and sell the bike as a complete package first. It'll be going cheap as I'm only interested in recovering some money for my new project.
However in answer to your question. I've got some cabling sat in a box that came with the ecu, but I think its for plugging it into a dyno/computer etc. The race ecu simply plugs stright in place of the original ecu, all that was needed was to simply unplug one and put the other in its place.

You'll achieve the same results with a Power Commander & good dyno operator for a third the cost...

    Cheers

To finish first - first you must finish... Oh b.t.w, which way doe's Turn 1 go & whats the lap record...

Lee - there should be an additional pigtail cable which goes from the ECU to a blank plug. ie. with stock ECU there is a blank plug.

Kawasaki sell the ECU and software/cable separately unlike the Suzuki Yoshimura kits. John at TripleZees has access to a cable/software for tuning.

Not sure of NZ pricing but if you look on the US Kawasaki site the Race ECU alone is similar to Power Commander pricing. Without getting into a long debate about the differences between PCIII and Race ECU the zero map on the Race ECU on the ZX6 is worth a few HP alone.

Hi lee, the cable i need is the one it sounds like you have in the box, it has a computer plug at one end then a box in the middle with a factory connection plug to hook into the bike. I would bee keen to buy this off you if you wouldn't mind selling it.

Unfortunately he doesn't have the cable and he asked me to get the software as well as he didn't think he had it for my bike. I was going to take it up there this evening but I asked about the comms cable and he said he didn't have one, hence I'm trying to get one.

I want to have one for myself so if anyone knows of one around that they don't need please let me know so I can tune my bike.

Just going to jack this thread a wee bit... with a quick question.

Does the race ecu change the display interface when activated or can all the normal operations still be used? eg. You dont loose the speedo or something stupid like that eh?

So they can be tuned better for more power than a pc3?

Yes I've seen one in road trim where the Speedo, tach and lights still appear to work. Maybe Starky can point out what doesn't.

In terms of tunability. The PC3 allows fuelling changes. ie. making it riicher or leaner at different parts of the RPM curve. You can buy additional modules for things like ignition advance, quick shifters etc..
The Race ECU replaces the standard ECU. Its zero map is more agressive than the standard map and there is some HP gains there alone. The Race ECU also comes standard with things like ignition advance, increasing the RPM limit, secondary butterfly controls etc...
There is more scope for tuning out of the box but you often need corresponding engine work to realise the full gains.

Awesome, cheers for that info. Sounds like its the best option ...you just need someone to tune and set it up with good skills.
So this unit came from Jay Racers zx6r?

Depends on what you're after. If you just want to smooth out the power delivery after putting on an aftermarket exhaust, a PC 3 is fine. If you after every last horsie then the Race ECU has some advantages.

I got mine from Kawasaki NZ. I think most of Jay's ZX's were sold as complete race bikes.

Have you had any luck finding the coms cable? I'd love to buy it off you (for the right price of course).
