    GN250 Stator in DR250?

    Hi has anyone used a GN250 stator in a 1982-88 DR250?

Apparently there is not a suitable stator in the country for my bike according to the shop that's working on it so I'm doing a bit of my own detective work...

I can get a brand new GN250 stator for $200 landed, but that's $200 more than what I want to be paying if it doesn't fit!

    Cheers

Well i've got a parts motor with the top off, stator should still be under the sidecover. Most of the cover bolts are seized up pretty good or rounded. If i get a chance tomorrow ill take to it and have a look at the stator. If it looks ok its yours for free.

No real rush mate, this has been 7 months in the making! Plus the replacement will be coming from the UK so just when it suits would be brilliant

Why not get Cairns electrical to rewind it to spec?
The old bugga can do it blind folded, standing on his head while sipping a cup o tea. (unless he has died or summit).
Cairns elec in Hamilton. Ring one of the Hamilton bike shops like Boyds.

Unless he has a real passion for DR250s I'd be suspicious he'll be avoiding it like the plague...it's been tested twice by an outfit up north (run by an older gentleman...) (I think Auckland, but could have been Hamilton(fine both times)) and then somewhere else in Tauranga who said it was too damaged to rewind. The only one the shop that has the bike has been able to find was off a non-road legal DR250 (so missing lighting coil).

This is the final piece in the puzzle so I can get my bike back!
    .
If you know that he has experience with 80s DR250s let me know so I can give him a call
