Bike boots, advice please

i may just go in to town and do a bit of investigations.... thats a big word for early morn.....
the cheap Cnell have lasted a year, so it my work out cheaper in the long run to buy cheap boots, wear them out and get another cheap set....

i was very tempted to get road boots again but i wanted a bit more protection for shin and ankle

Maybe you can get yours re-soled by a shoemaker? I don't think it's especially cheap, but if it's only the soles that are buggered it might be worth getting that done at least once before replacing.
