Any advice on aftermarket mufflers for Bonneville?

As my "big wheels" licence approaches, I've got my eye keenly on a new Bonneville SE.
Now, one of the first jobs is gonna be to replace the mufflers.
The Arrow jobs are 3K, which I reckon is a bit steep.
Would appreciate any advice on an alternative product.
And, any advice on impact of aftermarkets on performance?

Thunderbike down in Nelson do/did a great set with reasonable gains and a freaking good sound.

Watch your warranty though..as in double check with Bayride MC (recommended) or whomever you'll go through.

BTW...the SE is a bloody nice bike to ride!


PS...there's also a guy down Pyes Pa (Tga) that makes some wicked sets too. Sorry but can't remember his Co.'s name

Others I've found include "Predator", "Staintune" or "Dominator" which has two types for sport or touring. Personally, I'd follow up on DMNTD's local options first.

Try some Dunstall replicas. Sound great and dont cost a fortune.
Saw and heard a bonny with Dunstalls today, actually thought it was a 750 Bonny it sounded so cool, but it was a hinkley Bonny.

These have been around for 30 odd years and have been fitted to all sorts of bikes.
They dont come with a spiffy little badge and thats where the savings are made.
Of course the snobs will look down on you because you have dared to only spend $250 instaed of $1000 to $3000 like they did. What will really get up their nose's is your bike will sound just as good as theirs!!
