Hey thanks for all the replies, I've enjoyed reading them all. (Even the suggestion to grow me pits - hahahaha had to do that for a while when my collarbone was first broken as I couldn't get the razor under there; was almost able to plait 'em! but that's probably too much information...)

I can see the point (seriously) where they might be afraid we'll drive the car into the pit. Apparently it has happened there before, with a woman driver, but before anyone jumps on the bandwagon a bloke has done it too. All I feel is that if the rule (their rule, up there in blue and white, big letters'n'all) everyone should follow it not just one portion of the community.

Btw, we generally only go to VTNZ 'cos it's close but only for the cars. We never get our bikes done there!!! Trust bike mechanics only with the 2wheeled preciouses.

It was much easier to just take it to a bike shop like I should've done to start with.

Meeeh get over it, women drivers are more likely to drive off and drop the cars in. Good call. Get over it. B0o0o h0o0. Wirting a letter in.

VTNZ are public servants and they are not employed or paid to think so it is impossible for them to move with the times unless instructed and pre-programmed to!

Even then it requires extensive training and reprogramming to get them to even absorb the new data, let alone action it!

You simply went to a VTNZ agency that was still running the old software in it's cyborgs!

You will probably find that the management is running on outdated software package too!

Conclusion: There is nothing wrong with you, suck it up and move on, even if you win, you will lose with these types!

Then it was my turn. I was asked to get out of my car; I said nah, it's ok I'll do it. Oh dear. That was the wrong thing to say. I was told most definitely to get out of my car for him (tester) to drive in.

Hmmmm. Went inside and asked if it was their policy not to let women drive their vehicles in over the pit and was told - no, it's just that most women don't like to do it and let the male staff do it. Ok, off I go and ask the tester (after checking that my car had passed it's warrant of course) why I couldn't drive my car in despite at least 3 men having done it while I was there watching. He kept saying "no public allowed in there" over and over, even when I said "but male customers are doing it all the time".

Now, there IS a sign saying no access to members of the public in the area; I don't have an issue with that - all good for OSH and all that I assume. BUT (and it's a huge BUTT, i mean but) why are men allowed to break that rule. I mean to say the testers were actively waving the male drivers into the area whereas I was told in no uncertain terms to get out of my car!!!

I've emailed a letter to the station manager asking why there is this discrepancy (veiled "discrimination") against women drivers. If the rule is there, it's there for ALL motorists surely. I wait with bated breath as to what his response will be.

    Grrrrrrrrrrrr.
Oh hunny, it's because you are a girl and the macho male needs the woman to be weak, useless and pathetic and any woman, such as yourself, that can do it...well you're just emanicpating the poor bloke and he can't handle it. He needed to feel 'big' and in order to feel that you needed to be small.

    Turn the blow torch on

If the reply from the VTNZ manager is unhelpful, ie full of B S you have the option contacting The Human Rights Commission ie discrimination or the Ministry of Womens Affairs you are being treated differently because you are a women, either will put the heat on them.
Or if you really want to watch them squirm write to both.
If you do take it futher please keep us up dated, it should get entertaining.

They should have failed you the beam will shine onto the oncoming traffic instead of the verge, by law you have to have beam benders fitted if you take a LHD car from Europe into the UK.

Crikey, you folks are real twats.

If I was a poor bloke working for two tenths of sweet-fuck-all at a VTNZ, I'd probably be doing pretty much exactly the same thing (also any elderly folks or anyone who looked uncertain) after having watched several disasters happen and then having to be the poor schmuck that has to drag the damn car back out.

Talk about a storm in a teacup - calm down and put aside those pitchforks you pillocks.
