Angry Decks are more dangerous than motorbikes

Yes folks it is true, I really think that ACC should be targeting home owners with timber decks and sending them a bill to help cover the cost of treatment for deck related accidents. Our deck has claimed another statistic and this one is going to cost plenty

Last Sunday morning I was walking on the deck, as you do, when I felt a distinct snap in my foot followed by an intense white hot pain. Some nice bruising appeared almost immediately. Being the tough guy I am, I have hobbled around unable to weight bear on my left foot all week until finally I had to go and see the doc.

Happy Xmas! I have ruptured my plantar ligament, am currently bandaged from knee to toes and on crutches Fabulous! I have to have a scan done next week to assess the extent of the damage. It will be months in the healing and may even need surgery to repair

So here I am the day before Xmas, unable to navigate my way at any great speed with shopping to finish (food type) and the 101 other things that you need to be doing at this time of the year.

I have all my kids home tomorrow and my Mommy too, I am cooking the hell feed. Well actually that is not true, they are cooking the hell feed and I am going to be sitting with my foot up being waited on. Lucky for me I have a friend coming too who appreciates the need to keep your glass filled

So you guys take it easy out there, decks are dangerous, so dangerous that they have the potential to injure you badly enough you wont be riding your bike for a long time

My rude children reckon it is because I am old

The reality is there are some small deviations in the heights of the decking planks, I just managed to find one that caught my foot in exactly the right place

    Hope you heal fast!!!

Who would have thought a harmless walk on the deck could cause an acc claim.

    Merry Christmas..

You should drink more...it means you are relaxed when you trip...and you don't usually hurt anything...if you do, you're so pissed you don't notice!

Is that 2 ACC claims in your household for that same deck now?
Diarrhoea is hereditary - it runs in your jeans

If my nose was running money, I'd blow it all on you...

Had you been wearing your boots, the injury wouldn't have been as severe....

Never mind. Heal up quick and send Mark to do the shopping....

The reality is it's because you're children are riude - blame them.
My kids reckon I'm old too, but #2Son also reckons I'm a dick.

Boots! Wish I had been wearing something on my feet, that is for sure. Normally at that time of the day I would have had slippers on, but it was hot, so I was bare footed. He is going to do the shopping when he gets home from work.

If you wanted a holiday or a break, all you had to do was ask your family! No need for such drastic measures sheesh!

Not riding your bike for months? I think my brain fell out and my heart just went cold ...

Bugger! I injured that ligament years back through road running further than was good for me. Separated from the heel bone slightly so know what you're experiencing.

Good excuse to put feet up and be fed alcohol - for purely medicinal purposes of course

Have a great Xmas and work on getting yourself operational for 2010

Why don't you put "Deck Repair" on the Christmas wish list?

Either wait for the third person to be injured ...
