    Carb cleaning, the easy way?

Seems a bit too simple to me but I chanced accross a web page with some instructions and did some more research, turns out you can clean them with electrolosis, apparently! I've currently got 1 bowl sat in a bucket happily bubbling away as a test, just wondering if anyone else had tried this and maybe had any hints (especially if it was a huge blunder!)

well, the bowl came out pretty much mint which was awesome so I've put one of the carbs in there now (minus everything I could take off) I'll post some pics tomorrow if anyone is interested ...

What did you use for the electrolyte, and how much juice did you apply?

water with some washing powder in (about half a teaspoon to half a bucket) and a 1.6 amp battery hooked up to a car battery. I wanted to just use the charger but it has a safety thing so it won't turn on without a battery in there

Looking into cleaning my carbs - how did it work out?

I am planning on simply removing the caps and submerging the whole 4 carb asssembly in a citrus solution in a tub.

Aren't they found in food like taties?
Why doncha just boil'em in salty water like everyone else? Or fry 'em in a bit'o'butter?
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

yup, worked out fine. I made sure I checked on them quite regularly though as there are brass parts as well as aluminium which will react at different speeds, other than that, it got all the crap off and only needed a wipe with a clean rag when they came out. Just make sure to remove everything you can from them before you put them in, jets etc will need cleaning on their own (I just used carb cleaner on them rather than dunking them)

Thats interesting. I'd be worried about stuffing something.

yeah, it's worth testing it out with some scrap firstrather than just chucking the carbs in, if you get the voltage too high and leave it overnight you could come back to some severely fucked carbs ...
