Yes the sign will say something but unlike the giant carrot it will say 'the people that run this airport are unimaginative rip off artists' A giant Wellington sign would be better than Wellywood.
I vote for Fat Max sign 1 for NZ flavour, or sign 5 cause it really says something
Its quite sad ain't it.
Next they will be throwing gang signs down there and saying "Wellyside nigga!"
Reactor Online. Sensors Online. Weapons Online. All Systems Nominal.
Is the product good enough to warrant the risk? Or is it a bonushttp://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post...Wellywood-sign
A beer bounty is being offered to whoever destroys the Wellywood sign once it is put up.
Blenheim brewery Moa will reward "successful acts of disobedience" with 15 cases of beer.
Just joined the Facebook page 'Wellingtonians Against the Wellywood Sign' Some good ideas on there.

All talk and no action?...well done Wellington..100 protesters turned out tonight...
Do you think the Wellington Airport will take any notice of a social networking site like FB over this?
I haven't read the other 5 pages... but wait till we get a decent gale (you won't have to wait too long). That bloody sign will get picked up and chucked around like a rag doll. Mark my words. I hope it doesn't decapitate some poor bastard along the way.

Whoever signs off on this needs to be rogered with someting that splinters.
Great to see that there are protests already.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........
The protest organiser must feel so dejected with the turnout last night?
To vote on a social networking site like FB proves futile (as it does on similar sites) if you dont get out there and actually stand up for what you beleive to be right.
The sign is going up, guess Wellingtonians shall just have to get used to it (for five years at least)
Yes it will look tacky and a little desperate, and I agree, it should be there.
NOTE: Over 9,000 votes were 'yes' on that same poll.
NOTE: The voting supporters of the sign are still out-numbered 2 to 1.
NOTE TO SIR MICHAEL FOWLER: Most people gave up on Irish jokes about 30 years ago. Trying to save yourself by saying, "It wasn't meant to be derogatory" because he was referring to the Irish "trait" of opposing authority ignores the provenance of how that "trait" developed, ignores NZ's extensive Irish population who came here mostly via the transport system of justice imposed on a starving people and still makes you look like an idiotic and irrelevant old duffer.
NOTE TO STEVE FITZGERALD: We realise you're Australian and therefore devoid of taste and restraint, however just because you're losing the popular vote doesn't mean you can insult your opposition without firing them up even more. Trying to discredit a "mob" is like urinating on a forest fire. Don't put the sign up, mmmkay?
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

For a conservative city like Wellington, on a winter Monday night, without a co-ordinated action, 100 people isn't a bad start. About 10 times what I would have expected. Considering most NZers, as often demonstrated here, take the attitude of 'Oh its doomed, they are going to do it anyhow so why should I bother'. Sometimes fell NZ is the country fill of Neals from the Young Ones.
