Tinted visor with optional antifog

I went to buy a tinted visor yesterday and the great sales guy up sold me to an antifog tinted visor. None in stock of the tint i wanted so i have ordered one in. Now i am wondering 1. how good it'l actually be? and 2. whether its going to be worth the extra $$ as its nearly twice the price! Does anyone out there have one of these? are the really any better?

i have a tinted visor with anitfog treatment on it. it works perfectly it has never fogged up. it works better than my fog city insert. my visor was $80. for a kbc vr lid

I bought an Rjays visor insert for mine - $20-ish from Motomail.

It's good stuff. I'm told pinlock is better, so I'm going pinlock on my next lid.

I find the tinted visor on my AGV S4 doesn't fog !

When it comes to anti-fog properties, pinlock is definitely the way to go. Other simple things like breath guards and garments that you put around your neck (even a scarf can do sometimes) that directs your breath down and away from the visor help.

I haven't used a professionally treated visor, but haven't been very impressed with the treatments you apply yourself.

I ride around 7 days out of 14, pretty much every week of the year. As soon as you start riding in colder weather, you breath will cause visor misting. It's usually real bad when you are going slow, or stopped at lights.

If you are going to ride regularly in cold weather, get a pinlock visor. Worth every dollar. If you are only going to ride ocassionally, then I probably wouldn't bother.

Fogging has been a pain in the ass the last week or so. Lost my breath guard when i moved last week so i have to crack the visor which leaves my face freezing. Think i need a new helmet with pinlock inserts!

I have two helmets, one fogs like a bitch, and the other one does not fog at all. The helmet with the much larger nose/mouth space is the one that doesn't fog (FTR it's an LS2.)

If you're riding only when it's sunny and nice, you shouldn't bother. IF you're touring or commuting, you definitely need something antifog.

The inserts keep the fog away but have other disadvantages. I used to have a fogcity on my old helmet and while it was good at keeping the visor fog free, in time, very fine dust sneaked between the insert and the visor, reducing vision through the visor. Once that happens, you can't really remove and clean it. you have to replace it.

The DIY visor antifog treatments are usually very short lived - at least the ones I tried.

The factory anti-fog treatments are usually very good, however, on some visors, they don't last long. My HJC visors have brilliant antifog but it kinda' wears off after a month or two, and I never wipe the interior of the visor (I just pour water if it's dirty on the inside).

If the visor comes with factory treatment and it's a good treatment, it's worth the additional money. You get your money back when it's raining and with a normal visor you have to crack it open to keep it free of fog, but cracking it open allows water wo seep from above and in 5-10 minutes you vision will be less than 50%.

Yep .. and I'm an unfit bastard who puffs at the slightest thought of exercise .. hence fogging all the bloody time !@!!
