    Hey Ratti

I am your typical oblivious male, so even if I was being hit on, I wouldn't notice unless said person was using a brick. Other than that I wear a wedding ring. So any conversation with me from the fairer sex is just that. A conversation. Unfortunately the wedding ring doesn't stop me saying stupid things. That is hardwired!

I do mention my wife and kids from time to time. They are the biggest part of my life. So they feature heavily in what I do and say. They are part of who I am. I love them to bits. I am proud of my wife and my kids and that comes through in conversations with me.

The date comment was a little odd though. If he was my mate - he would have been getting shit about that comment for AGES. Would become a running joke.

Whoever first put an electric start on a motorbike has a lot to answer for

Don't take too much notice of what any bloke says on a ride, until they come out with,
    "My wife doesn't understand me."

It does happen. And it is hard not to be a smart arse. 1/2 dozen of us girls were waiting for a ferry south one day and a bloke turned up... had to say "it's nice to see there are still some blokes riding" :-)

He came over to talk to me and one of the first things he said ti me was "My wife rides a Ducati"
    WTF??
Ha ha, probably just trying to pretend he did alright for himself! Like boasting about the porsche...

Anyway, plenty women out riding, WIMA, and there's a group down south of biker girls. Check out the websites and facebook! I ride most the time with girls, sometimes with just guys, sometimes mixed group. Sometimes odd comments, usually not from me but hell I can suffer from foot in mouth too. And if they wanna boast that they have someone good on them. It's the ones who forget to mention the family I worry about.

Of course family is important. In the normal course of a convo I talk about my kids and all as well, it was just the 'this is not a date' thing that was way wierd. WHy would i even think it was?

I must reiterate, most of the time its not an issue, I assume the folk who turn up on a ride are there to ride. Marital status does not enter the arena at all. Why would it? Family stuff appears naturally in subsequent conversations and its just people talking. Comparing notes on how vile our teenage sons are,how pleased we are to have the time to ride, how much we love the folk who are holding the fort while we are out riding. That's natural flow of conversation.

Has it occured to anyone that they may be refering to their spouse to make it plain that THEY are not there for a hook up and put things on a less predatory, more cordial basis?

Wasn't a criticism mate. Only the mad or bored would bother reading whole threads! I think anyone talking positively about their families should be supported.

They might be complimenting you (in a back handed way)... "I'd definitely be keen to get to know you 'better' if I wasn't taken", or contemplating their own misery... "Man I wish I wasn't taken, fancy meeting such a great gal after getting married "

Ala Peter Davis after shagging uncle 'Ellen and having to live with her.Seriously flirting is ok (more so if you are good friends),and know the boundaries,I believe nothing wrong as long as your partner is ok with the flirting,if not don't do it.And flirting in front of your partner shows all in fun, behind their back is dodgy, imho.
