    Seized GN250 speedo drive?

the rotating rod which drives the speedo from the front wheel now only rotates when the bike is moving backwards (no movement when going forwards), so the speedo shows 0 km/h while I'm riding. so far have not managed to get at the speedo driver in the front wheel hub (difficult to access).

any chance of fixing this? or sounds like I need a new speedo driver unit fitted by a garage? (I found another post saying the GN250 drives have a tendency to seize)

Or, get another one of a wrecked one....
Or, find out what other Suzukis used the same drive, and find a wrecked one of those...

Once you pull the front wheel off, it should all become clear which part is actually broken.
If it is anything like the CBR, then it will be the plastic bit on the drive unit itself...

just to update this thread - yes it was a seized speedo drive, which i had replaced by sportzone suzuki christchurch yesterday (who seemed friendly and efficient), unit cost about 160 not having a paddock stand or torque wrench (and having weedy arm muscles!) i was not able to easily get the front wheel off myself, so I resorted to the repair shop, it was basically due a service anyway
