Dont yah love that? Yes indeed once upon the slippery slope you can not avoid the side effects and the pills to counter them. Irregular heart beat, oh that is due to low pottasium as you are taking a diruretic that leeches potassium from your blood. Here take this slow release pottassium one pill a day. Watch this space

Yeah, but only problem when we have a party is I dont actually go to bed when it is dark, I tend to stay up and only crash out once everyone else has.

    Well........
I've never heard it called a "medical advice" before and I thought getting your head around it was supposed to raise the blood pressure!
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.

I have high blood pressure, have spent the best part of 12 months trying to get it under control. It is a family thing so not unexpected. I used to smoke. Every time I went for a BP check the nurse/doctor would lecture me about stopping smoking. So I did. Piece of wees really, completely blew me away how easy it was to stop. Sadly my blood pressure continues to be an issue despite my best efforts to date.

Had a bit of a HIGH BP at the start of the week and was started on yet another drug, this time on top of what I already take, to drag it back down. Went for the 2 day after starting new drug regime check and it has dropped a bit. I complained to the nurse. I said, "I took your advice, I stopped smoking and am out pounding the pavements almost every night getting fit and my blood pressure continues to rise. I feel ripped off!"

Her advice to me. I should start chewing nicotene gum It lowers the blood pressure apparently. No shit Sherlock, I did try telling the zealot nurses when I went to get my BP checked, only now I have stopped do they acknowledge it. Apparently only the TAR in smokes is bad for you. I was sitting there gob smacked! I said I am not chewing nicotene gum, she said I could always use patches??????

    WTF!

I am a nicotene addict that has managed very sucessfully to kick the habit and here is a friggen health professional suggesting I should start the habit up again via a different method???

    Anyone else experienced this weirdness?
Tell the moronic fuckwits to give their diplomas and birth certificates back. NICOTINE RAISES BP and is a vasoconstrictor (goes hand in hand). One of the easiest ways to cut BP is to seriously reduce sodium intake (salt). Not just salt "on" your food, but also the salt "in" it. Good luck.
When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

Yeah sodium. I got the lower your sodium intake lecture 12 months ago. Difficult to reduce something that does not play a big part in your diet anyway. Into my meds a while and they discover that my sodium levels are too low (along with my potassium) so I get given carte blanche to eat what ever salty snacks I want. Everyone is different I guess.
