    Cool Newbie (gugu)

Hey everyone, I'm new to the site. I'm on my restricted licence and ride a Honda VTR250. I still have over a year before I can get my full but I'm already wanting to upgrade! (on that, anyone got suggestions for a sports bike for a female about 5'3"??)

Also, how / where do people organise rides on this site?

    welcome!!

You live in a bikers paradise out there in Waitakere!!!! some very beautiful roads.

I'm a bit of a shorty myself about 172cms and after a few test rides decided on the Gladius 650. Felt like the only bike that really fit me, theres also the Kawasaki Er6 similar bike in almost every respect including seat height. Just hop on a few bikes and see. Everyone will give you their opinion about what bike is best for you but, only you can decide that for yourself.

Well, if you like sportsbikes and want to stay legal, the Ninjas are quite nice. I love my Hyosung (even if it is the Hyundai of motorcycles ) but I would not recommend it to someone 5' 3".

the VFR400 and RVF400 are good little sport bikes with fairly low seat height - come round to the Uni bike club (SMC) chiller on friday arvo and there'll be a few there who ride them. The student bike club also runs a few rides (if you didn't sign up it's only $1)

(you've got there one of the best learner bikes on the market btw)

In the sub-forum 'Meetings and Events'.
But its probably best to ride with those at the same level as yourself and/or someone who is experienced.
Just a small group, 3-4-5 maybe?
Large group rides are best left alone when you are just starting out.

Hey gugu...I'd say stick with the VTR as you're already familiar with this bike...also get as much experience on the road as you can. Before you know it...your 1 year will be up...you will have your full 6L then you can move up to any bike you like. Seems a waste to trade your 250 for another 250 and then trade it again for a bigger bike in a year's time. However, if you can't wait...test ride a few 250's for at least an hour each before you buy. PS Those Ninja's are my pick. Cheers.

Cheers petebro, I think I will stick with it... it's easy to get talked into buying a bigger bike but I don't want to be uninsured anyway!
