Flyin memorial ride. Martinborough, Saturday 14 May

This is the new date for Sam's memorial ride (as the weather was so bad on the 8th).

Meeting up at Martinborough at 12 midday and riding out in convoy from there, rather than a large stream of bikes heading across the Takas.

We'll need two 'look outs' for the approaches to the corner to slow traffic.

Let's hope the weather is kinder.

I won't be able to do the SUnday, as there is a training day in the Hutt that I've signed up for. I'm pretty sure CSL is busy that day too.
Anyone wants to join us Saturday, then let us know, I guess...

I stopped at the site yesterday afternoon with some flowers - very sobering scene with bits of fairing etc strewn along the side of the road.

Brought back a lot of memories of a mates crash where bits of his bike were found in the gravel and grass ten years later.

Sam's family arrived after about ten minutes, so we left to give them some time alone.

Would it be better on the Saturday then?
Do we need a poll to find the best day of do we do two rides?

I have no opinion on either day.

Went out to the site yesterday myself, remember the corner well from passing through there shortly before the accident on the Sunday. Not pretty. Not pretty at all.

Did anyone notice there is a gravesite in a paddock off to the right? Looks like either a private family plot or perhaps a small settlement. Not a good omen.

Would have liked to be on the ride , and have only recently learnt of Sam's passing. I met Sam on my last ride in New Zealand last month. As I'm now in London I can only be there in spirit.
Jim2 , could you lay some flowers or similar on my behalf.

    Regards
    Neal

I can probably do either day.
However there is still the option of of doing it on the Sunday one month (or 4 weeks = 29th) after the accident? what do you folks think?

I'm OK with that too but there wasn't much response to your suggestion in the other thread...

Sorry to muck you around Skunk.

Not mucking me around... I just want to suit as many as possible (and I don't know where the site is).

This is looking like Saturday for most.
