Since when is it not OK too ride at 100% during a practice session ???Somebody needs too inform all the World championship riders of this new development so they can slow down and avoid the risks involved with high speed riding and since when is it not OK too pass somebody up the inside ??? FFS little wonder this country is NOT producing world class riders anymore.

Geoff Booth would be one of,If not the cleanest riders in the country and a true sportsman who simply would NOT put another rider at risk.
Good call Billy, there seem to be a lot of people moaning about people crashing into them blah blah. I think a lot of them need to go to Choppa Reads school of "harden the f@%k up"

Yes you have a century worth of experience Shaun - one less than Billy, and I totally agree that club riders will improve immensly by riding with faster national level riders. I myself would ratrher be midfield at a nationals race than win a winter series one. Eg:Bryce Meads improved nearly 2 seconds a lap at Manfield in two days after talking to Dennis Charlett and watching faster people after they passed him, and he didnt even crash into anyone!

I remember being taught by Brian that practice is ummmmmmmmm.................. practicing to race??????????????? Also that the warmup lap for a race is for getting the brain into race mode, not for going out and dicking around weaving and shit, which dosnt actually warmup tyres - it only retains the heat they allready have.

I took some guy out on a track day when he turned left in the braking area at the hairpin at puke. When he got out of hospital I still apologised and made sure he was ok

Whew! I'm glad some sense prevailed in the end.
I was getting a bit worried going fast in practice and overtaking on the inside was unacceptable

Depends on the track day I guess. If it's one of them "racers only" go out when the hell you like days or the "racers" group of a normal trackday then pretty much anything goes AFAIK.

I just did my very first trackday and I was told overtaking under braking into the apex was unacceptable. Does this rule change later on?

Not on most trackdays ! But practice days and racer only trackdays (and the odd trackday co in group 1) the rules loosen up !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

Trackdays are trackdays mate, this rule re passing is common on trackdays, a test day is a test day, it is for racers to go testing, so race rules normally apply, ie, pass when and where you can

    My 2 cents!!!!!!!!!!
In my experience of NZ track/ride days the biggest culprit of all sems to be the organising body............ Yes there is a huge gap between the ability of the beginners - fastest(practising racers)
But in my opinion there is not enough input into moving people up/down groups tp suit ability & aid safety. Its more like a general free for all.
There is never enough instructors/trainers (racers passing on some tips/giving something back) on track with the groups to help sort out the problems early on.
I used to help out at UK track days........... all ACU licence holders(racers) had a seperate group
which the beginners loved watching. And if you were a competant teacher/racer and you volenteered to help out with coaching or observation the day was free (in return for your services)
I spent a whole day last year with a safety vest on using my own fuel.........and didnt do a class myself. Just helping newbies gain a bit of confidence and answering a few q,s and what thanks did i get................................ no i got stopped more than once by "officials" asking why i was out in more than one group.............the same "officials" that had issued the safety vest.
    Rant over
