Ok guys and gals,
As expected the groups are filling fast!!
Group 2 is full and we have a reserve list running Group 3 has a few spaces left.
Group 1 has room left, so for those of you thinking about getting out on the circuit and experiencing what ART has to offer this is your last chance this season.
Group 4 this is the weekend before the last round of the club champs so any last minute testing its now or never and space is still available. We have Sam Smith coming down again along with our usual group of instructors to make the last day of the season a one to be remembered.
I have been reading the Keith code books - very interesting- and they make you think about corners in a whole new way (with products nd reference points). Is this the kind of stuff that you teach? Or is that more advanced?
I have also not received any confirmation -how do I know that I am in?
Usually the money is taken from your account/card quite close to the event and that is used as confirmation.
If you have missed out then you will find you're contacted straight away to let you know and ask if you want to go onto the waiting list (things do change for people).
Both of you were in soon enough I believe.

Question, would group 1 be suitable for a 250cc rider on his restricted license? I'd really like to get along for this.
Just sent my application in yesterday for Group 1, would be interested to know whether I have a spot or not, cheers!
I haven't had mine yet. I don't think I usually get it till the week before.
The Keith Code books are reasonably advanced, so the info you get will depend on the group you are in. Below is my own personal experience, and I consider myself a below average rider.
Novice Slow is more about getting the right cornering lines, throttle control, smooth machine control and "looking". Brake and turn in points do involve reference points on the track, but I know from when I first did Novice Slow that I was not so conscious of them (my attention was pre-occupied with the other areas).
I've just moved up to Novice Fast. The instructors are still talking about reference points - but my brain has enough attention left over to be able to start focusing on them now. Also I find I can spend more attention on throttle control, as this affects so many other areas (suspension, cornering, exit of the corner onto a straight). I think I have my corner lines and "looking" pretty much ok.
One area I personally want to work on this time is improving my brake+blip+change down, which I don't recall Keith Code talking about much. I also have a barrier about entering the first corner on the front straight (because I can't see through it) that I want to try and work through.
I personally feel I learn better when I concentrate on just one or two areas at a time. So that is why I have chosen two things I want to achieve (call it my goal for the day). Don't know if the same approach will work for others.
I imagine group 3 could focus on Keith's words a lot more, but for them I expect it will be more of a fine tuning exercise.
The Keith Code books range from brilliant basic info to more race orientated stuff.
I personally use alot of this stuff in Group 1 and up. Getting throttle control, balance and transitions correct is the core essence of getting your lines right and so something I drum throughout Group 1 days.
Talks I give around the throttle as a stability control, bike "sets" such as corner set, brake set etc, smooth shifting and transitions are all based around same tenants that are in the Keith Code books.
Really good pre reading.
