    I bought one for $600 a few years ago, fun to ride but has nothing on a deacent 250 now... I pass GN's regulary lol.

    yeh you can find something a lot better for 2K, I had a GN with less k's and less years and I got it for 1K (good nick too). I'm assuming you have just got your learners so you'll be on 250's for another 2 years, my advice is to get a good one and stick with it, otherwise you will probably be looking to upgrade in less than a year, vtr's and cbr's should be in your price range, there probly other companies that make bikes too I guess

    Of course if you are a crap rider and plan on dropping it often, a GN is for you!

    I think the ride from Wellington to Auckland would be really painful on a GN.
    Too slow, and impatient cars would give you a hard time.
    My first road bike was a GN and I outgrew very quickly. That Bandit mentioned a few posts back looks good - first bike I ever rode was a 250 Bandit - it easily did 100km with 2 adults on it compared to my GN which struggled to 100km with me on it.
