Where is the best place to get my girl to learn to ride?

Hi all,

I'm keen for my girlfriend to get her license but the only experience she has had is on the back of my bike.

Are there any suggestions for a reasonably priced place that can teach her how to stay safe? She doesn't have her own bike.

She can drive a manual car if that makes any difference.

Easter is coming up. 2 days of supermarket and mall carparks empty of all traffic. Plenty of time to learn the basics.

lol Just teasing MD, she has a lovely white Harley I would love! And just reiterating about how good it is to learn around here with no traffice etc, mind you with easter looming this weekend as Spuds said, lots of free carparks around... I often call people by Mr... nothing by it...

Hey Mustek,

I would ask your girlfriend what she wants to do. My boyfriend taught me to ride on a dirtbike first which I loved - so much fun then we advanced to the road bike.

We borrowed a friends gn250 and had a few sunday morning sessions in a quiet carpark. I felt more than comfortable with him teaching me - I do'nt think I could of coped with on-lookers or someone I did'nt know trying to tell me what to do lol

That would be my suggestion anyway if you can borrow a bike and find a quiet spot where she does'nt have too much to worry about (etc traffic or on-lookers) lol

Good luck - hope she likes it and once she does there is no turning back

Cheers tate. I'm hoping to borrow my uncles farm bike soon. Only thing is that it doesn't have a clutch but I think it's a good start.

Your welcome Mustek. I think that's a great idea. I know my main concerns were that I just knew where the brakes were and to throttle off - starting off road worked better for me anyway because I was'nt so concerned if I fell off (which I never did - thankfully) but think it's mind over matter.
