Where is the best place to get my girl to learn to ride?

If shes getting her licence then she'll need a 250 sized bike, so why not bite the bullet and just get her one?

My girl had never touched a bike in her life, came to NZ in Jan last year from Brazil, decided she wanted to ride and did the Basic handling test on their scooters the written test and passed no probs.

She then rocked down to ANZA'a and paid cash for a CBF250 and dropped it leaving the shop. After that they delivered it and she taught herself in a paddock at Massey (lethal on street tyres but she never binned it some how) then progressed to carparks then the local riders took her out on the road. I met her in Feb and she was already riding fine on the road.

Since then shes self taught and observed the rest of us to the point shes done a trackday on my 675 and laughed her ass off and now have a full licence and an 08 R6! Not bad for 14 months ride time.

So your girl, if she WANTS to ride, will ride. Its how most guys learnt, no reason a girl cant either.

Photos show her progression and obvious confidence. She was NEVER pushed into it, she wanted to do it for herself... thats the secret.

I started on a dirt bike, learnt how to ride then got a road bike.
I also had 1 lesson and hour before I sat my full license - a guy called Doug Swanson - he is based in North Harbour - anyway, he is a lovely guy, very calm and reassuring - he is the reason I was so calm and focused when I sat and passed my full license. Can't remember his number but do a google search on motorcycle training.

Any luck in the misses getting her BHS? I provide a bike to learn / test on and have put many Kiwibikers through. We train/test on Saturdays up in Albany.
