"Quiet Insert" Mod for Leo Vince SBK: to make it louder?

Will shortening the pipe on a "quiet insert" make the exhaust louder?

    Any ideas appreciated.

Hotpoker, can u take a photo of the quiet insert? I know that the quiet insert for my can is better served by enlarging a central hole in the baffle end plate. Not sure if it's the same for the LV SBK one though

Edit: OK, found a pic and the baffle looks like the type that you can cut down in length to adjust the sound

My Satantune has two inserts - the quiet (standard) one I use for a WOF, and the everyday one which has no 'tail' on it. I've been riding recently with no insert at all, but the thing's got really loud.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

    Thanks for the responses.

Vifferman - have you had problems with a loud exhaust when getting a WOF?

I had a pretty loud can on my previous bike and had no problem gettting a WOF: adimittedly that was only one though as it was <5 years old.

No, because I always put the quiet restrictor in, just so I don't have any hassles.
When I had the FahrtSturm, that was a different matter. Before the first WOF was due after I bought it, I took it to a testing station and asked about the zorsts, which had had the end caps cut out. The guy looked at the cans which had the complinace test info marked on them, revved the bike, said "These mufflers have been altered. You're not allowed to alter mufflers."
    "So...that's a 'No' then?"
    "Yup."
The bike was LOUD, as in LOUD.
When I rode past parked cars, EVERY car alarm went off.
When I rode down the street, EVERYONE turned to look.
What I did was get some restrictors made up - just 50mm steel tubes with concentric 25mm tubes that were flush with the back end and stuck inside the muffler about 100mm. Then I just cut off the inside bit, 20mm at a time, until it sounded OK. The restrictors were held in with high-temp silicon. Passed WOFs no problem.
    ... and that's what I think.

I chopped off about 5cm off the silencer today and it is "nicely loud" but not offensive.

    cheers

It's just so hard to tell how loud it is when you are riding.

Underground car parks are my favourite testing places
