eek Oral sex link to head cancer

    From the Herald:
    http://www.stuff.co.nz/science/35157...to-head-cancer

    Snippits.
The number of serious head and neck cancers linked to a virus spread by oral sex is rising rapidly and suggests boys as well as girls should be offered protection through vaccination, doctors said.
I'm pretty sure NZ has started using one of the below vaccines.
Two vaccines - Cervarix, made by GlaxoSmithKline, and Gardasil, made by Merck & Co - can prevent HPV, which causes virtually all cases of cervical cancer, the second most common cancer in women worldwide.
A recent study found the risk of developing oropharyngeal carcinoma was linked to a history of six or more lifetime sexual partners, four or more lifetime oral sex partners, and, for men, an earlier age at first sexual intercourse.

Phew, we don't want blow jobs being discouraged!

Does that mean that eating a chick out is as bad for your health, or perhaps worse than smoking?

    - I'm pretty sure that means that most of my friends are screwed (pardon the pun)...

Cervarix is all very well if the cancer is detected in the early stages.. It's not a guarantee of being cancer free or stopping any current cancer developing. It was aimed at the 18-45 yo women here & a bit of tough luck if you happen to be over 45 & then get a cervical abnormality/cancer result.
Regular check ups are the go. Every 2 years is recommended here, but even every 12mths can miss it.
