I don't mean to pick on you personally, it's just a rule of thumb suggested in the Road Code that has absolutely no meaning, especially given Nick Smith's recent nonsensical comments that the increased ACC levies "reflect how bigger cc bikes are usually heavier therefore people can't control them" (quote not exact but you get the idea). Several things wrong with that statement that is plainly obvious.
I would suggest that a better rule of thumb may be that if you can control it at stationary and low speeds, and you can pick it up off the ground when it's down, it's not too heavy for you.
I am test riding bigger bikes this weekend, so if all going well will be up for a ride next Saturday or Sunday - anyone keen? Beth? Rie? Rocketgal68?
Yay for me! I just traded the 250 for a 750 = just waiting on the bank for the rest of the money then I will pick it up on Saturday next week!!!!!!!!!!
it is a Honda VT750 like the pretty white one with flames, but silver. Is only a few months old and I am getting it for 3 grand below normal retail as it has a scratched back guard.
Ha! I could easily scratch a guard on a new bike myself, so I thought I would take the deal.
It looks like the bike was backed into something, ( the scratches are on top of the guard and the back of the indicators) kinda like the time I backed my GN250 into my stepsons car and busted the brake lightwhich is why I am not concerned about it - I think as it is not "perfect" then I won't get upset if I do scratch it.
Hi Cat, sorry I havent been checking this part of the forums. Glad to hear about your bike. Sounds pretty!!! LOL. Hope to get my fender put back on my bike this week as I got it back from the chromers and the welding job on it was MINT. Unable to even tell. Big Kiss for my panelbeater! Havent been too keen riding without my rear left indicator. How are you set for this Sat? And any idea where you would like to go?
Hi I am out west but i'm happy to meet on the shore and ride with the girls. I 've been going to nass too for a couple of months and its awesome, would be great to have a few more women coming along. I could ride over with Beth :-)
Hi Beth, I am good for this Saturday afternoon, not sure where to go though - any ideas?
Zealchick - you are more than welcome too![]()
Hi how about meeting at Burger King carpark, Westgate, around 12.30pm and heading up to Helensville, stop for coffee, then Kaukapakapa, Dairy Flat then down to Albany. Or we could make it shorter? I should imagine Albany carpark on a Sat afternoon would be very busy to meet up there. And I am not too familiar with Albany to suggest anywhere else. If we meet up over the shore we could do the ride in the opposite dirrection. I really one day want to cruise around the waterfront, Mission Bay, St Heliers. Be a biker chick!!!!
