Not sure on how many he did on Friday, he pulled off with gear change issues due to the selector cover coming loose which was where the oil came from, on Sunday it was probably close to 1/2 - 2/3 a lap , I originally thought it'd gone about the start finish line as that was when the bike went up in smoke but then he continued to corner 4 before pulling off, when we did the next lap before it was red flagged I could see it started from the bottom of the hill
The fact that the fucken idiot used a piece of plastic to fill a hole in the crankcase, that his bike left oil around manfield and hds and that he didnt have the consideration to tell anyone he had actually dropped oil should be reason enough for him to have his licence suspended!
There was oil around the whole track except the corkscrew thing, thats a whole lap and he would have kept going if he could! I spoke to several people that saw the swinger looking at all the smoke.
Your not helping your cause by sticking up for this cock, most of the other sidecar racers have apologised for this bullshit and you seem to be making excuses for him?
There's a bit more to it than using a "piece of plastic to fill a hole" but I totally agree with the licence suspension especially as it wasn't a "first offence" does anyone know if MNZ have the power to do this or apply any penalty?
I only noticed it from where we turn to go up the hill then from about the start/finish when it dumped big time and there was shitloads to turn 4, if the swinger did notice it and didn't get him to pull off then he wasn't doing his job either
I'm not making excuses or sticking up for anyone and you'll find that the rest of the Sidecar crews are just as pissy about it as you are, I have already sent you a pm and told you what i think you and any others interested should be doing, so just what have you done? have you got on to MNZ yet? have you been on to the NZSRA asking what they be doing to make sure there is no repeat of this? has anyone? or will eceryone just bitch and whine on here?
So to get back on track with the thread,The idea that sidecars are the only machines that dump oil is a misconception that has been with us for sometime and other competitors have been quick too point the finger in the past,At a meeting I officiated at back in the mid 90s on the long circuit at Manfeild,A sidecar expired on the short straight before the Hairpin on the extension,After the following F3 practice we had a stream of competitors complaining that the sidecar had left oil all over the place,Turned out an F3 bike had dropped its sump plug during the first lap of their session and lost a whole sump full of oil!!!No sooner had we finished cleaning up that mess the Rodney Oconnor crashed at the hairpin and dumped another sump full of oil which took about an hour to clean up.Its also a standing joke that after a post classic practice or race you could build a bike from all the parts left on the track. The fact is all classes are as much responsible as one another for the hold ups we encounter at race meetings and its NOT the machines fault when its not prepared properly,I have occasion to have bikes in too fit bodywork to and some of the things Ive noticed wrong with them are just fucking pathetic,Wheels in backwards,Front brakes where they have fitted an aftermarket brake lever that allows no freeplay and jams the brake on,Sockets that fall off the bike that dont belong too me and have clearly been floating around in the engine area for sometime,2strokes where the crankcase breather is ventilating in the open air and on it goes. Its time some of the competitors took responsibility for their machines and prepared them properly.I had occasion to call into Sidecar Bobs workshop and had a good look over his Classic sidecar. The thing was like a show machine,Everything was properly wired and restrained and in my opinion was better prepared than some of the bikes on our superbike grid,I also noticed it had a tag on it that was dated,When I asked him about it,Was told the sidecar association did a certification on a number of machines each year,Brilliant,,If the competitors in our sport arent going to take on themselves to undertake proper machine preparation,Then this should be made compulsory for every machine and when are we going too see the reintroduction of compulsory scrutineering at ALL meetings.A badly prepared machine is a loaded gun waiting too go off in YOUR face or worse somebody elses.
Is it still beastiality if ya fuck a frozen chicken??
