I'm thinking, that he is pushing some boundaries and needs for you to stand firm and not allow him to speak to you in that manner, he does, he doesn't eat. and they are never to big to lose their TV or even the clothes that you've provided for him.
My son now 23, went a bit like this at college, not a kid but not a man, and so not sure of their place in the world. She was the best thing that coulda happened to me at the time as I was starting to hole walls and things... she showed me fury... exactly what I was feeling at the time... it's always funny to look back... She stood toe to toe with me and told me to get a fuckin job... and a slagging match of epic proportions erupted... no violence, just pure verbal rage... I really don't remember too much about it... but she did... and just to prove her wrong, I went and did it... (she still allowed me to use the house for washing etc... and became a very good friend...)... but then we are all different.
