and yet the joker didn't give batman nearly as much trouble. I reckons it's what the baddy does, not who the baddy is... but I agree that Ledger/Joker was the best baddy.

The joker had class though, he was trying to corrupt the citizens of gotham, rather than just blow them up. He went after what batman cared about, rather then just beating him up...

And as for causing trouble, he hid for 8 years after the joker, bane got him a hottie and an adoring public!

Oooohooo now we're getting into spoiler territory...

    SLIGHT SPOILER ALERT

Only one succeeded in corrupting the people of gotham though I agree that the Joker was a better class of villain, but he was acting alone, for his own reasons and was just having fun... bane was hell bent on destruction and vengeance. If class was depicted by deed and not how they went about it, Bane would beat the Joker hands down... quite possibly why it was the better movie. And to that end, my dad could kick your dads arse.

+1. the Joker left Batman mentally forked over.

Both movies were great just different.

Yep, it totally sucked. I'm kind of surprised Nick Cage agreed to do it, but then I guess he hasn't always been particularly discriminating in his roles.

What annoyed me the most was the very first scene where Moreau was riding an old boxer engined motorbike to the sound of a modern 600 inline four. I mean why ffs?!!!

    Senna

I thought someone had posted this already but I can't find it....

This is a doco film where knowing how it's going to end makes it even better. If you don't know how it ends then google ayrton senna and then watch this movie.

Some really good on-boards, and a bit of a flashback to the time of all the old names like mansell, piquet, prost and of course senna (could almost be a piece of covert advertising by the tobacco companies!) Shows the politics of the sport and senna's dislike for it. I have no idea if it's biased or not, but a bloody good watch. Brilliant.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around what I just watched. Modern day mature slapstick? Plenty of giggles (sometimes laughing alone), a few I've seen that scene before parody's, some cool action, I wanna nail the pres, and a few moral messages in there too albeit towards the end so as not to spoil it for the desensitized. Maybe needed more action, but meh, hair splitting.

    As above 8/10.

Total Recall: Not so bad really. Action packed from start to finish. Some cool tech to oooo at. Different story but with the same characters. As Mrs M put it, watchable, but with Jessica Biel in it . It had the lady with 3 tits in it too, albeit a slightly hotter version. Anways an action packed 7.5 /10.

What can I say? It's all the 1980/90s action flicks rolled into one. There are downright obvious gags at the films they made then, and some quite subtle ones... example: in the final quarter (airport scene, a la die hard)..... guy gets shot and ends up behind a huge x ray screen, just like the one in total recall, and of course sets it off with a detected weapon. So many reviewers cant 'get it' that this is a right royal send up of themselves, but the body count? Hell the first 10 minutes would exceed the total body count in Arnie's 'Commando' outing. It's plot is literally there to string the fight/blow up scene's together. The dialogue is exactly what you would expect, and there are so many 'in jokes' going on. It's bad, it's brash, its Arnie, Stallone, Van Damne, Norris, Willis; doing what they do best, throwing Testosterone around the big screen.
Worth the money? Go see it in the 7.1 dolby cinema Wellington.

Hope Springs. Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee.

The words "fucking" and "stinker" spring to mind.

Dragged there by my wife but she was the first to lean over and whisper "do you want to leave" after about 45 minutes.

Hell yes, I said and couldn't get out of there fast enough. I love that woman.

Tommy, Meryl, I've seen you both do great work but what the hell were you thinking getting involved in this garbage?

1/10 and that's only because a few of the people in the cinema were chuckling, proving they have as much taste as an alsation licking its arse.

Hint: Guys, if you go to this with your wife thinking it will put her in the mood, forget it. You are not going to get a root after two hours of Hope Springs. At all.
