Enjoyed. dramatical. felt a bit discombobulated but i guess that's what you get compressing a lifetime into 01:45.
didn't play it up or down so was just gritty mobster shit, and was all the better for it. interesting to see schwimmer in a different kind of role, and everyone else does good acting.
8/10
Eddie the Eagle.
Comedy-Drama, very loosely based on the life of eccentric British ski-jumper, Eddie Edwards. Note that I said loosely - think of it as Cool Runnings on skis.
A little predicable in places, but still enough suspense and laughs to keep you engaged. Taron Egerton did an outstanding job portraying Eddie, reasonably well supported by Hugh Jackman as the reluctant (and drunkard) coach.
7/10.
Can I believe the magic of your size... (The Shirelles)
warm bodies
a zom rom. I think they wanted it to be com too, but it's just not fucken funny.
kudos for the originality but it was just lacking in everything else, I think the premise could have been handled heaps better.
maybe MAYBE if you had to watch it with female company.
8/10 for trying
but more like a 5.5, JUST scraping by.
Hitting The Apex.
Documentary following the six fastest riders in Moto GP over the last few years. Brad Pitt narrates. It's quite easy to make some Fight Club jokes in the first twenty minutes, but that doesn't detract from the movie.
Mark Neale (director) keeps his focus on the riders, on the sport, and on the rivalries. There's a lot of close-in, high speed footage of the bikes on track, letting anyone see just how extreme the riding can be. There's very little technical information on the bikes or the rules, but there really doesn't need to be. It's about the six and the world they live in.
It's fantastic. The version I saw didn't have subtitles, which would have helped - the fans and the rider's parents get a fair bit of screen time and say quite a bit - although Rossi's hometown priest and his mate need no translation : )
For those watching with a non-riding partner, one word of warning - there's a lot of coverage of crashes and aftermath. People who don't ride might get a distorted picture of the risks from that, if they're already at you about bikes equals death then it might be best to see it on the quiet.
The only thing I can compare it to is TT: Closer To The Edge. It's about that level of film making... slightly weaker in some areas, slightly stronger in others. Flip sides of the same coin might be a better description.
Stunning film. 9 / 10, easy.

johnny derp typecast as his usual bumbling-barely-tolerable-probably-drunk self.
two and a half hours. very lacklustre. not shit, just nothing to write home about. train shootout at the end was almost worth it.
but srsly, that derp idiot kinda sucked any goodness that mighta been.
6.5/10
Sully.
Better than expected. Good to see that Skylar White has managed to get a job with government benefits now.
8:10.

Swiss Army Man
Very original film. Funny, dark and beautifully done. Awesome acting from Paul Dano and Daniel Radcliffe. 8/10
A little taste:
How to Organise an Orgy in a Small Town... 10/10
This was funny as F&*K (sic), very clever and original humour and just the right amount of T&A.
Me and my lady were pissing ourselves watching this, highly recommended, just realised has the lover Katherine Isabelle in it too from 88.
Excellent actors all round too, played their parts very well.
Every great cause begins as a movement, becomes a business, and eventually degenerates into a racket - Eric Hoffer
police academy (1 & 2 so far...)
timelessly funny as fuck, and for the era, a bit ahead of the pack.
8/10
