    American Sniper.

    Just been today.
Idd have to rate this movie even higher.
For me its a 9/10 and well worth seeing.
Unlike most war movies its containing well developed characters and not to hard on hyped American one sided action.
Wifey liked the movie also so not just a boy action flick.

Planning to see it this week.
Was watching some of the interviews on ewechoob last night. Very interesting about the character portrayal of Chris Kyle. His "language" was much like learning a foreign language, according to Brad Cooper, and he stayed in character while off-set.
Never me the subject, but he spoke to him on the phone just once.
Kyle's wife had a lot of involvement too.

It was a good performance from BC and idd say Clints made a film that idd rate as good as if not better than Gran Torino.

    Cool!

The homework was all there. Training with the teams. Pinging plates @500yds, etc.

    The Raid 2.

i feel a bit like a homo, having not seen the raid 1.

now, i don't like chinks. worse, i don't like chink speak. and i certainly don't like having to read a fucking movie (it's like a book... with moving pictures, right? what is this, 1930?)

and my tolerance for ultraviolence has decreased, heaps.

that said. it's a pretty epic movie. the cinematography is spectacular, plot and storyline and whatnot, while not being deeper, are better developed/portrayed than your average kung-fu
there's a glad lack of gun play. unfortunately they slow down some "action sequences" to emphasise (usually hamstringing) wounds.

while i might not watch it again for a long, long time (due to abovesaid ultraviolence) totally worth watching if you're into that kind of thing, or if you want a solid action movie.

    Citizenfour

A very interesting watch. Not so much about the real detail of what Edward Snowden exposed so much as a personal depiction of Edward and his philosophical reasons for doing what he did.

If you use a computer, phone or any electronic coomunication device you should be aware of the level of surveillance you are under, which is emphasised throughout this doco. And of course NZ is a member of the 'Five Eyes' alliance....

Other way round if anything. The Judge Dredd ouvre has been going since 1977. I loved the DREDD movie. Also THE RAID 1 AND 2.

    Birdman.

Went in not reading any previews, except seeing the shorts on tele. Totally different to what I expected, but a really good watch. Pretty sure that Hollywood/Broadway insiders will read more into it than I can e.g. is success measured in money or talent?

    Really enjoyable.

Well I missed the first screening, went in for the 5th one, but by that time the seats were a bit too moist so I left.

Might take a tarp and try again next week

Watched a good dvd (IMO) last night called Heartlands, about a newsagent/ darts player that travels across the UK on his Honda 50, looking for his cheating wife in Blackpool. Starring Michael Sheen.
