children of men.
epic. just neat all over. from the same git that bought y'all pan's labyrinth, apparently.
i don't know how they could make a sequel, but i'd watch the shit out of it.
anyone got any along-the-lines recommendations...?

Fantastic film. Perfect intensity and pace, with some dry English humour and some stunning 'long takes'. Can't really think of anything like it. I've watched pretty much every dystopian or post-apocalyptic film I could find and they are all either much slower and darker or over-acted and under-written.
Other things you might like if you haven't seen them: Hanna [cheesy art house action film / movie length music video], District 9 [not your usual alien invasion], The Cabin in the Woods [smart man's pop-horror].
WELLINGTON: Tag-o-rama
will add to the list. chur
loved it.
did enjoy. probably due for a re-watch.District 9
seen it. was not so thrilled. one of those movies where y'r'all liek "aww hell naw she ain't THAT stupid"... but then, she is...The Cabin in the Woods [smart man's pop-horror].
Be sure to watch *The skin I live in* wan't ya then. Gonna watch it again tonight after first seeing it when it first came out. A fucked up film if ever there was one. *naked lunch* is another humdinger!
Dag Day Afternoon?
Pre-destination
9/10 - This is a Sci-Fi thriller which is really intense with its twists and turns. A plot that will keep you interested until the end, and questioning yourself about the fuck you just saw and how the fuck?
No massive overly done special effects, in fact there are few if any in the film, most of it relies on good story telling and gripping acting performances. Don't expect to see the same old shit plot play either with goodies nearly failing against the baddies and then getting back up to win the day. This movie has a plot that is original and mind-fucking. Pretty much every piece of content and sentence in the film has a meaning behind it which you will only realise half way thru or towards the end - which makes second time viewing primo.
Highly recommend - don't watch the trailers for it, they don't do it justice or will spoil parts of the plot.
Well, American Sniper didn't live up to expectations.
Chris Kyle certainly deserved to have his story told, but for some reason this movie had a strange approach to doing just that.
For me, 6.5:10.

Kingsman.
It's a bit like Bond meets Tarantino. Best described as dark humour I suppose, and seeing Samuel L Jackson with a lisp...hilarious.
I'd give it 7.5/10
Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father
Very very good. Don't look at the synopsis, just watch it.
9/10
I kept hearing from people this was worth a watch so I got it out. Not wrong. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Not that I'm usually into tear jerkers and this is way up there on the pass me a tissue meter.
How the hell did they recreate that tsunami charging across the landscape pushing the beautiful Naomi Watts along at such speed? It looked so real it was scary just watching from the safety of the couch. And when she gets cut up and injured you almost wince in pain.
Happiness is a means of travel, not a destination
This is a FUCKING great movie. Trust me.
