Saw NBK for the first time a couple of months ago. Didn't really enjoy it. Was surprised to find that Robert Downey Jr. starred in it. The guy doesn't age.

But Pulp Fiction is easily a 9/10.

    Harry Brown (2009)

This is a very quiet but violent film vividly focused on thug's daily life. The story is simple and clear, but I found it a little shallow and lack of depth. The story is about an ex-Marine jumping into the world of thugs in search for vengeance. However if you are expecting something like in Taken (2008), then you will be quite disappointed. Badly. But Caine fan would enjoy it.

"The UK's answer to Gran Torino" - that says on the DVD cover. Tried to anyways...

    5/10

On a personal note: Because I very much enjoyed Taken (2008), I was kinda expecting some of that because you know, ex-marine and thugs... But guess Caine has more age than Neeson.

    Date Night (2010)

Entertaining comedy with a pinch of heart touching message. Both Steve Carell and Tina Fey's performance was notably flexible, near effortlessly.

Cool story and plot but sure could have used more oomph.

    5.5/10

    Paranormal Activity (2007)

Almost silent but a quite effective psychological horror film. It used nothing but sound in the first half to create an illusion of horror. As the film proceeds it built up a decent horror atmosphere, which was quite well done. However the horror level dropped as the film dragged on.

I've seen many horror movies that tried the "Blair Witch Project (1999) Camera Technique", only to leave me disappointed (or even disgusted). But Paranormal Activity executed pretty well.

Well impressed and got me scared.

    8.5/10

On a Personal Note: Horror scale = 9.5/10

    Déjà Vu (2006)

A film with very interesting story and plot, with power-house performance by Denzel Washington. Worth the watch.

"What if you had to tell someone the most important thing in the world, but you knew they'd never believe you?"

    8.0/10

    Grown Ups (2010)

Another hilarious comedy by Happy Madison Productions. It's full-house of Sandler's humour and cast. Happy Madison fans will enjoy, for I am one, I did.

Not as quite good as Click (2006) but not bad either.

    6.5/10

    The King's speech.

Superb movie. Went in not expecting very much, but it truly surprised.

    Unfortunately...
    car chases : 0
    gunfights: 0
which means the yanks will fail to appreciate the movie and give it the rewards it deserves.

    9/10.

The curious case of Benjamin Button (2008)

A very unique film of drama and love, definitely one of a kind. It felt like reading a really nice novel and the film caught more as the story unfolded. This is stunningly beautiful, warming, inspiring aswell as motivating. I recommend.

A riveting tale of two separate lifetimes narrated into one.

Generally always like Sandler's movies to some degree or another (although I though Click was pretty average also) so I will be checking this out at the local vid store soon.

I honestly have no idea how Grown Ups (10%) got worse than You Don't Mess with the Zohan (36%) on RottenTomatoes. Oh my gosh Zohan... Unless you have fetish for old (I mean OLD) women, run a mile... or two.

The Green Hornet... good fun movie that doesn't get too bogged down in cheesy shit... loads of cheap laughs, smooth "plot", good enough script and some kung fu for good measure

8/10 (loses .5 for the cheesy shit it does concern itself with)
    I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!

Home 10/10 - it will cost you nothing but time to watch. It's free.

From IMDB "With aerial footage from 54 countries, Home is a depiction of how the Earth's problems are all interlinked."

Narrated by Glenn Close. Utterly stunning cinematography. Such devastation in such a short span of time. Words fail me.

On a personal note: Nicole Kidman's beauty from Moulin Rouge! (2002) shines once again. In this movie, she is a rose blooming in the desert.
Also, the movie is nearly 3 hours. Might not like for those who can't sit around long enough.
Blardy hell, you have GOT to be joking, this was pure Mills and Boon pap. It's an epic alright, an epic cliche. Luhrman's Moulin Rouge was forgiveably fantastical but this was just an exercise in ticking the boxes. I used to be a Kidman fan but she was just wooden, while Jackman seemed bent on overcompensating for all those dodgy singing and dancing gigs. When 2 seasoned actors are outshone by a kid in his first acting job you have to ask yourself what the hell is going on.

I've been watching a few 70's movies lately:

Deliverance (1972) - nearly 40 years on and it was still brilliant.

Gone in 60 Seconds (1974) - I was really looking forward to seeing the original, but after all the hype found it pretty dissapointing.

Vanishing Point (1971) - having seen it 20 something years ago I didn't think I'd enjoy it quite as much, but was very pleasantly suprised. I found a few more layers this time round and realised it's more than just a car chase movie.

And a new one I can recommend: City Island. Not a car chase, blood, or bullets in sight but farkin' brilliant. You'll be laughing, cringing, and generally enjoying a family's hidden truths being dragged kicking and screaming into the open. Good fun.
