Seriously cannot wait for this to be released!
Jim Carrey looks like he has a great role.

    Yeah I'd give World war Z a 7/10
Maybe I expected more from it based on the cool trailers.

Loved the swarm effect. The rush of zombies was reminiscent of watching a giant wave, like the Japanese tsunami consuming everything in it's path.

    SPOILER ALERT:
Was that a deliberate ironic commentary on the Israel vs Palenstine wars (or more to the point Muslims vs everyone else), that the Jews let the Muslims in to the safety of their walled Jerusalem. Only to all die because they let the Muslims practice their loud religious chanting that drove the zombies into a frenzied rage to clamber over the walls. I took from that; don't be kind to your enemies, it will kill you.

I blame women. Both times when they were "compromised" it was women's fault for making too much noise or doing dumb shit.
One time when Brad's wife made a phone call at the wrong time! (Refueling scene in Korea).
Another when that Israel/ Jewish girl start singing ALOUD on the PA.

    Man of Steel [aka Superman]

Man of Steel. Give it an 8 out of 10 on the enjoyment meter.

Finally after 60 years they finally picked a dude with the right 'super' physique and square jaw. I think he was why my Daughter wanted to see the movie. Hope his career fares better than previous superman actors. Generally it's the kiss-of-death role.

Russell Crowe takes a good part and gets more screen time than expected, but in a good way, he provided lots of the back story. Mind you he had big boots to fill with Brando in the seventies playing super daddy. The Lois Lane chick was below average on the spunk-o-meter though.

Still it was an entertaining romp that held your attention from start to finish.

    Arnie's BACK - Last Stand

Well curiosity got the better of me so I watched Arnie's latest tonight and what a pleasant surprise.

Saw a review somewhere (Stuff, TV3?) that rated it an unfortunate theatre flop but actually one of his best movies. Agree. Shame it went straight to DVD because it wasn't just an action packed bore like Expendables. Yes he is old, as he says so himself in the movie taking the mickey out of himself. The short fat Mexican doing the original Conan with sword pose was a laugh. I was constantly waiting for the big line though - I'll be back. Never happened.

The man still has charisma and screen presence in spades and I for one was pleased he's back. The upcoming flick with him and Stallone in a prison looks good too. Escape Plan.

    .
I took it back to the dvd store within the first 20 mins of watching it. I'd rather remove my own finger nails with pliers than have watched the rest of it.

    Wtf?

Does yer local video store have a "refund if not satisfied"policy,or did it stink so bad you had to get rid of it?

lol. I wish mate! But no. They're fucking good to me though. I often take two new releases back weeks late and they charge me fuck all in doing so. Think I'm one of their best customers *hire wise*. All the time I've had off work due to injuries/operations I watch a shitload of movies!

Well, I caught the last showing of Star Trek Into Darkness a couple weeks ago and I have to say I was impressed with the acting and the story. I had high expectations and those were exceeded. I like the little turnabout with Kirk and Spock towards the end. Unsurprisingly Benedict Cumberbatch was excellent if somewhat over-ennunciating his words.

Pity there weren't more cameos by the remaining TOS actors... Rihanna was almost palatable as an actress this time.

I was peeved at two things though, both aimed at the director:
    (1) JJ Abrams' love of lens flares. I can appreciate the occasional lens flare for realism's sake, but a constant bombardment every 3 seconds is just plain annoying!

    (2) JJ Abrams' total disregard for physics and historical canon. A million tonnes of steel or duranium (or whatever the Enterprise is made of) zipping through the atmosphere like a jet fighter and hovering like a Harrier is just plain nonsense.

    EVERYBODY HAS A PLAN.

Who knew Viggo Mortensen speaks fluent spanish (because he lived in ARgentina for years as a boy)? This is pretty good and worth the effort of subtitles although some of the character motivations get a bit lost in translation I think.

Transformers 1 (the good one) + Iron Giant + Godzilla = Pacific Rim

Was expecting crap, but was pleasantly surprised. Leave your brain at the door and go with the flow.

Thoroughly enjoyable, a solid 4/5 stars
