Many tests have concluded that an oem filter when clean flows as much air as the engine can use, again many tests on aftermarket filters concluded that many that improved airflow also improved dirt/dustflow so i guess whats the point, the most damning reports of aftermarket filter tests are in the earthmoving sector, they got bagged big time.In saying that ive got a pipercross but factoring in the cost of keeping it clean ie oils is it cheaper than Oem in the long run?I guess the big picture is do what you like at one end but look at a motor in basic form and its pretty obvious that doing things in the middle and other end are needed for serious performance gains.

    Thanks!

I'm not after any performance gains or big induction noise etc. I just want a decent air filter that I'll be able to clean myself if need be without having to replace it everytime it starts clogging up. I've always used K&N in all of my cars so I trust the brand, hence wanting to use the same for the bike.

I'll explore some of the other brands mentioned on here as well!

    Cheers,
