    Advanced driving course in Auckland?

I've had by full cage licence for some 20+ years now, and was thinking today it might be nice to do an advanced driving course. Since I've had my licence cars (at least the ones I drive) now all come standard with ABS and some form of electronic stability control. It would be interesting to try these out on purpose on a skid pad, for example. I'm guessing the driver simply needs to do "less" to handle the car.

I'm not particularly interested in a defensive driving course, nor something to shorten a licence which I already have.

I'm mostly interested in a skills course in the Auckland region.

Anyone got a course they would care to recommend?

In Christchurch there is free entry to skid pads on weekends, over here we call it intersection of Pound Rd and Ryans Rd or Hayton Rd. Apparently it's very good for learning skid control.

It will only cost you $10 in diesel for the entry fee.............

There will always be some dickhead who pours diesel all over the intersection, so it really is free except for the tire wear and possible tow truck fee, fine, impound charges and court costs.

Best way is to get on a track. As an experienced biker/driver learning more advanced techniques doesn't really make you safer unless you want to go faster. If you want to be safer, just do a defensive driving course.

Buy a competition car or a track bike, and beat it to death in a safe environment. Maybe even win some races!

"read what Steve says. He's right."
"What Steve said pretty much summed it up."
"I did axactly as you said and it worked...!!"
    "Wow, Great advise there DB."

Depends on how much u have to spend. I've done a Mini Drive Day Level 1 at Pukekohe. That was great fun and we learnt some good car control skills.
What I'd really love to do some time is the Rally School Weekend in the Maramarua forest. But that's 3x the cost of the Mini day. I'll probably hit up the Cali SB School for some bike training next me thinks
