So i want to get some Burton bindings from the states because they are half the price of getting them here. The only problem is Burton do not allow these online retailers to ship their products overseas. So the way to get around this is to use a US mail fowarding service like http://www.shipito.com/. But rather than create an account im wondering if anyone already has one that i could piggyback off of? Rather cheeky i know but i thought i would ask

Indeed - but for a lot of people - they can afford it at 1/2 the NZ cost - if it means paying double in NZ then they often have to go without - and everyone loses.

Its a global marketplace - with both good and bad aspects of it. But lets face it - we all want or need to save money.

If you could but a new car that cost $50,000 in NZ via a website landed and delivered for $25,000 - would you still buy local or via the website? Or does supporting local dealers only go up to a certain $ value?

Im not picking on the point you are making - its fair and very valid (and I agree) - Im just saying that it is a very complicated matter.

If you can have them delivered to San Clemente in CA, or Irvine CA, and can wait till June, and they don't weigh much. Or alternatively have them shipped there and FedEx to here.

It is indeed a very complex matter and by no means as simple as many would believe. There has to be movement on both sides of the coin and as you realise there is an ultimate price to be paid for buying offshore, thereby bypassing NZ business ( which cannot compete on even terms ) and destroying gainful employment opportunities for our fellow countrymen.

Well the board i wanted is no longer available so im gonna stick with the shit one i have for this coming season and upgrade next season. Will probably still upgrade boots and bindings as they are crap. What size are your bindings?

Its a case in point really isnt it? As I believe if you are an employee in the ''grocery'' industry the wage rates are relatively abysmal, because in turn the margins in that industry are very tight and can only rely on volume. That means employees in such industries ( and others with poor or very average wage rates ) will be extra attentive to price.
If everyone in NZ was better paid and we had to pay a little more for staple goods and the environment supported LOCAL business rather than trying to eliminate it then I think wed all be better off and happier.
I can understand the difference in price is attractive but I was only trying to throw at it a bigger picture of where all this is leading to, especially while the $US is so weak.
In my industry Im adapting to it but there are many others that will have no choice but to fail. Where do all these people and their employees go to? How many people in NZ actually care about the wellbeing of their fellow countrymen?
