Will NZ open doors to SAFAS?

Been hearing a lot lately about some form of unrest in SA. Bad enough for Oz to say that there doors are shut to those that wouldn't otherwise be granted access after going through the immigration process... where does that leave those that can't get out? Apparantly my wifes, friends parents are currently locked inside their house... something they haven't done in a VERY long time.

So would you open your doors to those that Oz turns away?

If they don't meet entry requirements then no. Why should we?

Because they stand a good chance of having their families raped in front of them before being killed. But true... they would come over here and take up space on the DPB because there's no jobs... and we all hate those people right? All of the money that we have sent to Africa over the decades, really hasn't done a single fuckin thing other than make some people rich... I feel utterly ashamed of what we could do, but DON'T, because it takes too much MONEY.

There are people here who stand a good chance of being raped in front of their family's. Shall we also import some of the hundreds of thousands of family's who live with the constant threat of violence in the states? They are worse off poverty wise. Did we smuggle black family's out from SA when they were being persecuted by the government of the time?

Don't get me wrong, I have sympathy for them and if they meet the requirements to get here then go for it. If they are true political refugees then it is different.

I know what you're saying, as that really is the only sensible avenue open to "us". But you have to question why it's happening in the first place. Well you don't, but when will enough be enough? You're right, it happens all over the world and that is tremendously alarming... isn't it?... Is it really outwith our power to do anything about it? If so then why? If not then why haven't the world done anything about it in 2010? It's not like we haven't been "civilised" for long.

If Oz says no why do we have to say yes? What about every other first world country in the world?

Does Oz have any say with regards to our immigration policies? I've known of a few people who have immigrated to NZ so they can go to Oz later since Oz didn't let them in directly

It's not your problem. Turn the tv off and go back to your own shiny happy life, and stop watching that crap - it will just poison you. If they want to do something about their problem then they should put their thinking cap on and do so.

I dont know why they cant stop this bullshit themselves.we can provide aid but the violence has to stop from within. And of course that applies to many many countries.

I hope you are not attempting to put NZ into the "1st World" category. Please have more respect for our 3rd world Banana Republic.

Many people arrive here as a second choice. They then spend the time getting the citizenship and then straight off to Oz. Perhaps another part of the political reason behind the scenes for "NZ becoming a state of Australia"?

They can't stop it because they haven't hit rock bottom yet, and that's why we shouldn't intervene.
