    Tyler Firn’s BRM final round

    Sunday 11/4/10
We arrived with a chilly and foggy start to the day which burnt off pretty soon after.

    Qualifying
I went out with a nervous feel to the bike after binning it in turn two here at Taupo last round. I came in half way through to check tire pressures then headed back out. I didn’t feel I had pushed the bike to it limits and the results showed it with a placing of 9th and a time of 1.31 which was well off the pace.

    Race 1
I didn’t have the best start but I made it into the first corner with the front group. I held right on Max’s tail until lap 3 where I got him and stayed hard on Alex tail. The next lap my front brakes slowly softened until I lost all of them whilst I was flat out, heading for the tire wall. I jumped on the back brake and took it easy for the last two laps. I placed 8th.

    Race 2
I had the same sort of start as the first race but still slowly lost my brakes throughout the race where I finished 10th.

I had a great start to the series and the first two rounds went great for me at Manfield where I picked up first place. I finished the series in 3rd place with Daniel Mettam 1 point ahead in 2nd and Ryan Firn away in 1st place.

Thanks to all of the competitors for some great racing.

Thanks PMCC, Burrel Signs, Quality Autos and Baycad Services for your support through the series.

If you haven,t got a leak somewhere (would think that would be obvious) and the fluid level is not dropping then its time for a seal overhaul..........sounds like maybe fluid escaping back past the seal probebly in the master cylinder (just a thought) Or simple as a worn set of pads
    Go the streetstocks

I was right behind you most of the second race, thought I was doing pretty well too and now I read that you had major brake fade... damn I need to pick up the pace then haha

    Nice riding regardless...

It would pay to change the fluid anyway...........but rg,s are known to have sticky front brake problems usually cured by a complete strip down of the caliper/clean/reassemble
pay special attention to the outer dust seal when you put it back as it is very easy to get it trapped between caliper and piston (have seen this on more than one occasion) and it causes exactly same symptoms as youv,e had.
    Good luck
