I hear you both, going up the hill is fun, but I'm still a nanna with down hill cornering.
here are some tips - they sure helped me. Grip tank with knees, Keep weight on balls of feet, light hands on bars, these three things will help keep the weight well back and off the front wheel. Dont ask me how it works. I found a huge improvement in riding down that hill when i started doing these things.
Cheers. Any tips are appreciated. Not sure about the balls of feet thing on the cruiser tho
Young by my standards chikk
OK, so thats 4 of us crawling down the far side of the 'takas..shit, this could take a while!
I will be on Ducky so Have a similar problem. On a cruiser, suggest you sit back on your tailbone, crunch your gut muscles to support yourself and take the weight off your handlebars. That gives you a normal range of aiming around the corners without leaning on the bars. It really makes a difference, Ive got heaps more confidant since someone told me about this trick. Still crap at downhill corners, but better than I was.

Don't worry about it. Slow is good too, and the more you do that hill the more comfortable you will get on it. the secret with the cruiser is basically just to take things a lot slower than all the kids playing on their sports bikes. I usually take it on the slower side up there, especially now that the new bikes scraps its pegs on almost every corner. Take a slightly wider approach into the corner too. I have to do this as my bike is much longer than my last one and it takes a lot more to turn the weight into the corner. And its all about the gears and very little breaking downhill as Devo said. I pretty much stay in one gear up and down except of the tighter corners that I need to take even slower. A do look right round the corner, your bike will follow in that direction.
If I do make it out (please please please) I'll hang at the back with you if ya like and take it nice and slow, you could possibly follow me around the corners? But my lines are rather rubbish, but they do work for me on the cruiser. I'll chat to you about your feet on your bike too, I'm learning how to put weight into my pegs and touch on the back break which makes you settle very nicely into a down hill corner.
mmmmm now to try and make it for the Saturday ride!![]()
you could pop out to get bread and 'forget' to go back?

All of the above richard.. when you get to meet these AWESOME people on these rides, you'll soon learn that they all have some pretty super advice. And I would highly recommend attending a Prorider course when you can. Have done 2 and they were fantastic! I'm soaking up all the adice that I can get and it all helps. I'm still just a newby, and have a looooong way to go, but am learning to be more comfortable out there on me bike, and having an absolute blast!
I'll let you know if I'll be there as soon as poss.
The reason this works is that you are putting no weight/holding on to tight to the bars. Holding on to tight is basically putting incorrect movement into the bars and is SR (Survival Reaction) number 2. This action will make you go wide in the corner. Amazing the information that is out there.
I am Sponge. Give me info!!
