The birthday ride, there and back again in a round about way

    Day1
Well when one gets asked if there is a few 100ks left in the tyre you know something is up...

As the story goes...I get woken up as per normal with my cup of coffee and this time with toast,I know something is up as someone is not getting ready for work when she should be........after doing the opening honor's as you do its is apparent we are buggering off for the night and how we get there is all up too me,so it wasn't long before the bike was packed and ready too go

So we head of towards the naki stopping along the way too look at bike gear hmmmm this seems alright and I found a heap of stuff that fitted like a glove and doesn't make me look like bogan(guess opinions vary) just didn't find any gloves oh well time too head to the next destination which didnt have anything I liked but at least they told us a great cafe in NP to go too.....somewhere along the way I must have fallen into the Ashhurst ride trap because the time we got through 2 intersections he had lost our way but found ourselfs parked outside "Crowded house" so lunch was ordered seafood chowder and steak sammy the food was awesome, now it was time to head to the final destination and know Mt Messenger and Awakino Gorge were in our way this was going too be a great trip, with dry roads and very little traffic it was like a gift from the motorcycle gods cars came and went and the trumpy was loving the open roads and twisties as she always does with that crisp sound of the triple with her big bore system,

Arriving at our destination smiles all around we cheak into the motel, and by 7pm we are pick-up by coutersy van and taken too our resturant, and unless you already know where it is you would not find it if just driving through town, the experience was cool and different in several ways

firstly the driver with his array of dreadlocks was a super guy and the words "puff puff pass bro" weren't out of place.....

2nd waiting staff well this was a different kettle of fish as we were approached,I could'nt work out its gender as it worked out we had a waitress just a rather buch one..

3rd the local police person as there is still debate about wether this person was man or women

4th the meal.....Just bloody awesome (Riverside Lodge you rock)

and just as we were leaving bloody hell I run into and old friend...sometimes its like the past stalk's you

Finally back to the motel and time to sus this spa bath out(I had never used one),no-one said the water was too be above the jets before you turn them on.....rather interesting how far they can shoot water and I am glad the bathroom had a wet floor area.....it just wasn't where the water landed

Well it was a awesome night and I never Knew Te Kuiti could be so interesting

    Day 2
With the weather turning we knew it would be aday of wet riding but we still had another shop to visit so after a great Breakfast we headed to Otrohonga to the biker gear shop,as we were chatting and trying on gear it become apparent that we had past the owner yesterday and she reconised and amired the bike....futher discussion reveals that in 2 weeks time they are moving the bussiness to NP and will be having an offical opening in September sometime....so after working out what weekends we can make it it could be the weekend after the cold kiwi

So thats a date to remember and they have heaps of parking

anyway after going through a heap of gear and sorting out rider from bogan remember..we don wet weather gear and made our way south to Te kuiti,8mile and onto Taumaranui the roads were good with steady rain not a issue after Taumaranui the rain was heavier and eased of at Rahtehi at this stage we hadn't encounted too many slippery spots(on the road)

At Rahtehi it was pie time first of the trip now thats something, and we head down into the Paraparas and when its wet you know its going to be slippery and it wasn't long before we found out where....finally the rear wheel decided to follow its cousin up front, nevermind that because the fun was just about too start it was like someone had put a bloody huge umbrella over the rest of the paras and we had dry roads all the way back to Wanganui and only encounted 3 cars for the next 60 odd ks

It was a super 2days ride despite the weather

Thanks baby for an Awesome time

Hows the saying down in Speights country go "She's a keepa lad, makes a good cuppa and can swear like the lads",can't beat it,a great trip and person to enjoy with ya,nice.

Had visions of you mentioning water rising in bath and tap not turned on.

Go via surf highway or main road to New Plymouth? If via Hawera should've annoyed the local dealers,Paul at Action does good coffee.

    new tyres?

did you get new tryes when you got back then? The first commnet about what is left on them suggested that may be on cards... just put dunlop roadsports on trophy after legal (new wof) but too worn michelins gave me hell in wet ride...
Stuff everything...I've always got my bike.
