So what's the upgrade for that? ... a grappling hook as a land anchor?
Or the modern upgrade - use a bungy on it, not a rope?

Seriously, you can do without that sort of moment... most recent for me was going up to Mt Cook at New Years, and getting a vicious crosswind gust - stuck out the leg to counterbalance, and surprised myself in not losing the sole off the boot. I didn't have brown trou, but the bike behind almost did!!

I ran into a savage cross wind on SH1 between Blenheim and Picton at the start of a storm on a Triumph 1200 Trophy we had a few years ago. I had to put so much pressure on the bars to keep the bike on the road I felt my wrist pop out and click back in. That really gave me the shits and I had concerns that I had damaged that wrist permanently for months after. I do miss the power of the Trophy from time to time but not is side winds, I also joke about the weight of the HD but it is brilliant in strong cross winds, wide bars, low side sail area and low CoG.

Would you believe I have entered that road crossing on the summit rd too hot on a couple of times now. I was distracted by a dog that came out of the walkway but even so my brain does not seem to recognising how fast that crossing comes up.

I'm now planning to mount a Kalashnikov on the MG mount, partly as a inertia canceling tool but mostly to warn off any jap bike riders that pass me with a warning shot across the bow. But seriously I must get around to making a brake backing plate and mount a set of brake shoes in the side car wheel, its just that these days I would prefer to be out riding, and not stuck in the workshop on a lathe making shit. I even have the shoes and a bit of 3/8" hard aluminum gear plate to make the thing out of. It would be nice to have 30's tek brakes on all 3 wheels.

Now let me see.... a 30round mag of 7.62x39 150 grain bullets traveling at 2400ft/sec......ummmmm................... slows down a 450kg motorcycle traveling at 50 mph.............drops about 0.4 mph in 3 seconds then runs out of ammo......... bugger it does not work......... Need a bigger gun......some thing belt fed.............. Anybody have a M60 or MG34 and a big case of ammo they can lend me?......... No! Oh well.

Just remember to get the hazmat suit out for when you're milling that DU...

Must admit - probably not nice for the people for following me - but I tend to slow down when I get "crowded". EG like that road where the visibility drops off and the hill & trees start giving you a slight tunnel effect; again, probably comes from learning to ride around Wanganui where you'd be amazed at the number & stupidity if feral sheep grazing the longacres (after escaping as lambs)... certainly made me wary. Also didn't help on Sat having pedestrians 3 abreast in the other lane as I came down the incline there (1 jogger pasing 2 walkers) absolutely no way out for any car coming up apart from swinging into my lane....!

Hows about a couple of 18 pound cannon, as in Lord Nelson type?????.....................No too heavy. .............................What about a 105mm howitzer?????? ..........No too much recoil, you'd wind up back in Taylors Mistake, very quickly!!!!!!!!! (NSU made a moped called a Quickly)

Ok as I see it you have two options, approach the Kiwi corner more slowly, or spend hours working on the lathe etc to make yourself third wheel (Damn it I meant brake) [{( Its a bugger trying to type without a left index finger, every time I knock it, it knocks me)}]
And remember ...... if it hasn't got one of "Uncle Flip's" prosthetic kickers it isn't a real motorbike!!!

Are you going to hook it up to the existing system or add an additional brake pedal?

Just one pedal, that pedal activates a pivoting force splitting bar. One side of the bar goes to the back brake and the other pulls a bowden cable that activates the chair brake.

Given that the sidecar is quite light, wouldn't the wheel lock up easily if it had brakes applied to it?
    Could make things worse ...

That particular finger you're giving me is not an index finger.

I was talking to a german shepherd and he didn't want me to leave so he grabbed my hand to stop me leaving.
