you need to watch how you throw that word 'adventure' around or you'll find yourself lost on dirt roads before you realise what happened

Seeing as I won't be able to join you lot this weekend I decided to have a fun wee jaunt meself today.

I needed milk and decided to go a rather more interesting way ...

Home > Lyttelton > Huntsbury > Up Huntsbury track to Summit Road > Along Summit Road > Down Rapaki Track > St. Martins Supermarket > Heathcote > Up and over Bridle Path > Lyttelton > Home.

    Total time = ages!

    New sprocket works a treat!

Only got one not-so-friendly stare from a walker who looked more incredulous than annoyed ...

    Here's some pics.

Have fun this weekend, ya lucky bastards!

Definitely a candidate journey for one of my favorite songs - Take the Long Way Home by Supertramp ... does anyone else remember those first Subaru ads that had that as the background music - probably 1979-81 sometime? Always thought the car going off into the sunset on a high country back road to that music was pure magic; obviously before all the WRX / Impreza posers!

So Gareth what was it you said about MaxF's "Funky ass curves"? - God, now I'm worried...

The bridal path is actually a road and you have every legal right to use your motorcycle there. Sounds like another perfect day on the peninsular to me.

Yep, it truly is wonderful to have such fun roads right out the back door!

I thought the BP was a legal road, wasn't 100% sure tho so asked some walkers when I got there. They were all very helpful and some stopped to chat about bikes ... Bikes really are a ticket to meeting interesting people huh?

Speaking of which, Flip, can you PM me that guy Alan's details? I'd be keen to get in touch. He was a nice fella.

So any more ideas on what's happening? Earlier start might be useful if it's supposed to be rain closing in towards later afternoon (but then I'd better get A-into-G and sort out some tyre checkovers before the morning!) Still may not be coming, have to check that oil leak again too...

Also - Flip - what's the return, or is it just a retrace back?
