Stash a relay somewhere with control power from the ignition? (or are these the fancy ones that lose the setting if you turn them off?) ... Should only be two extra wires (ign - maybe use one of the dreaded tap-ons - and a light earth for control side) and split the +ve feed line to the grip controller after the fuse ...

So Gareth what was it you said about MaxF's "Funky ass curves"? - God, now I'm worried...

Great to see all today - good to be under some controlled, intentional movement too!

    Also - for those interested
    1) ECAN liquefaction poster - wish they'd made this more public!!
    http://ecan.govt.nz/publications/Gen...quefaction.pdf

    2) EQC "EQCare" policy outline - what you can claim for, excesses etc... came with the reply to our claim, so I guess lots will already have it but again, would be damn nice to have it as a flyer with the std insurance documentation!!

Flip - did you get enough kms or did you just carry on up north?

Ah well, if you had been on last weeks ride..... lol. I was on parental duty today, so had to content myself with pulling the bikes exhaust system apart and painting the catalytic converter. I had a dilemma - black or silver. Black would have been sensible and inconspicuous but silver would look cool. Went for silver (which it turns out is more a light grey) and now wishing I had used black! That's the breaks, it was a PITA to get off and back on too. Still, it looks better than the bare metal finish it was and hopefully won't corrode. So i can stay that way for a while.

Then just to finish off replaced the thermostat and rocker cover gasket on the boy's Corolla ( the one that you saw me in the other night).

Wish I had been riding though
These aren't the bikes we're looking for....

Anyway later after the other mob left we had a good ride up to the Greta Valley for lunch.
Your face was priceless when I told you we were doing a different ride!We had a fantastic day

Pleased you all had a good ride too... reckon these bikes of ours are pretty awesome things that a ride can be such a theraputic experience that helps put all life throws at us in perspective(well it does for me!!)

Thanks guys for the offers of bikes, pillion seats etc and all your kind thoughts & offers of help this last week...love to you all

Yea, weren't sure which direction the Adventure was going when I sorted which day it would be so borrowed the BK carpark idea but made sure we would leave before it got too confusing mixing sealed road and dirt road riders.
The resulting photos etc from our ride are over there from post #37 on.

Some of us Adv guys went home from Akaroa using the main highway and have reported that the road is in pretty good condition all things considered. I noted a the odd extra bump and a couple of thin cracks across the seal between Akaroa and Duvauchelle so continue to respect the road as being a road not a track as you should always do anyway.
Akaroa itself appeared to have very little damage.
Duvauchelle Pub is taped off, we went on the dirt road behind it so didn't have a good look at it from the front.
Godley House is cordoned off and has a red sticker on it so both those favourite stops are in trouble.

The Weatie had lights on and cars in the carpark and looked like it was operating normally as we rode past about 5:45pm.

I'm meeting some sealed road riders at the Peg for an 11am departure today, lunch at Cheviot and home via Gore Bay (just in case anyone is looking to get out for more therapy today I'm sure they won't mind others joining in)

    Pissed Penguin?

Sounds like I missed out on two good rides! Oh well, turned out to be a good thing, got a well paying gig that night so all in all a good day, apart from not riding.

Hoping to get the BMW back in action this week, depends on work load.

Glad everyone is ok after the groovin' and shakin'. Looking forward to seeing you all for definite when the Wed night rides start up.

    Love to all
